new fees for business sellers

G?ive it a year and all the every-day sellers will have gone to eBid. If E8ay want to do the decent thing, how about setting an across-board fee of 7.5%?.
Just remember, they are registered in Luxemberg, so they pay little or no Tax in the UK.
As for Ebid, they may have had an increase in registered users, but it's the buyers that count.
Once again Ebay aren't too bothered about small to very small sellers these days, it isn't where the money is. They are bothered about keeping buyers happy and how the larger sellers are doing (hence the anchored shop free listing fees). Losing some sellers to a site that never sells anything is hardly going to be a problem.
It looks like these changes are fairly well balanced as to winners and losers. The 'losers' should have a think about what Ebay are trying to tell them. ie fee increases in swamped categories perhaps?.0 -
I list on ebid and cqout, I get probably if I am lucky a sale every 6 months or so. I list exactly the same as on ebay but cheaper. One would have thought that these sites would have got more customers as ebay change the fees etc. But I do not think that sellers will leave ebay completely as there are no real customers on the other two.
Put it this way you are a buyer and looking for a new digital camera. Where do you look first - Amazon, second - ebay. To be honest would you look at ebid or cqout? I think not. And this is probably how 99% of other people think as well. These sites may increase with sellers but it is the customers that are missing.
I have been contacted by Amazon to open a store front. It costs £25 pm plus VAT but the first 3 months are free. I am going to take this offer up as it is slightly more than my web site where sales over the last 6 months have dropped dramatically. It is going to take a bit of work but I am going to bin my web site when my Amazon storefront is up and running.
But as for ebay, are you actually going to leave? I think not as ebay has the customers as does Amazon.
Be honest with yourselves and work out the financials properly like I have and I will be 1% down on my income once these rule changes take hold. This I can cope with. So yes I will stay with ebay. Ebid and cqout as it is free to list, ues I will keep my stock on there as well as it is not costing me anything. Then all I have to do is get my Amazon store working.

Love the fact ebay have in their opening paragraph "Fees will decrease overall for many sellers, but may increase for some." By upping the FVF so much, it seems only successful sellers will have an increase in fees!!!
This is the one which will hit me most, FVF increase on BINs:
Selling price £50 - £599.99 FVF now £4.95 + 5.9% of the final selling price of £50 or more FVF in May 10%Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Could it be that in the cats with higher increases, by pricing out and discouraging many of the smaller, very cheap sellers, the ones that are reasonably priced will manage to make more money (less competition, same profit margin by increasing prices slightly, but selling much more)?
Or is this just wishful thinking?0 -
I have been selling more by putting some of my DVD's at cost price (including ebay and paypal charges) and they are selling like hot cakes and being bid up sometimes past the BIN price.Lifes a !!!!! and then you marry one:D0

Here's a breakdown of .com fees which seem a lot more friendly to high priced items.

Yes you can list on .com I usually have a few things listed there myself. I do limit my payments to paypal only, and of course you get paid in dollars which forms a different pot in your paypal account.
However be warned, you have to abide by their rules so postage can be capped in some categories which means you cannot cover airmail costs and also from Spring at some point FVFs will be payable on the whole payment, including post and packing. So do make sure you read the appropriate terms and conditions before you list.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Also be aware that packages can take longer to reach US addresses due to the enhanced border/customs security they have at the moment. Make it clear in your listings that they might take longer to arrive.FVFs will be payable on the whole payment, including post and packing.0

Can we open Ebay shops on .com? Seems to be the way to go for high value BIN's. Anyone know the US equivalent of Distance Selling Regulations for BIN's and wether we'd need to comply with these even though we're based abroad.
Also anyone spotted a decent article written in English on what .de fees are going to be?
