I realise that I am a small fish in a big pond - working on it!

    Good luck!

Don't get me wrong, they're happy to take our hard-earned, but you can be sure that the big players on Ebay get alot more breaks than us pond-life :)

There are a number of other little gems hidden in the announcement as well:

    http://www2.ebay.com/aw/uk/201103.shtml#2011-03-16113011

This bit for instance should mean the end of 'look a like ' Apple products and knock off MP3s

There are also the usual rumours that further changes that will affect private sellers may also be in the pipeline.

I am also an anchor, so that will be a nice saving. My fees each month are astronomical, but then I have to sell to pay that much, so I am not complaining.

I am not sure how the basket will affect me, I use immediate payment, so that may be filtered out. Will wait to see.

are they trying to squeeze out all the small players!
this year alone they have had over £500 from me in fees, and they want more?!

£500? I'm at just over £1500 as of last month between Ebay and Paypal and I've got Silver TSR with discount!

Looking at the announcement, as I sell laptops and parts, I'll be halving my listing fees and saving a couple of percent on FVF too. Suits me :D

Matched-listings for items?, rubbish, I sold an unbranded MP3 player not on Ebay's database just the other week.
As for the new fees, there will be more losers than winners.

G?ive it a year and all the every-day sellers will have gone to eBid. If E8ay want to do the decent thing, how about setting an across-board fee of 7.5%?.

Just remember, they are registered in Luxemberg, so they pay little or no Tax in the UK.

The same arguement comes up everytime eBay make changes but eBid has just never taken off as a viable venue as buyers prefer eBay.

I am probably one of the few people who are still stupid enough to keep stocking my ebid shops, I believe there are now fewer buyers on ebid than before. Any novelty it once had (if it ever did) has worn off and buyers have all gone back to ebay or just moved on entirely.

As a small business seller the FVF increase on ebay does affect me, I don't run a shop so don't get the benefit of the reduced listing fees. However do I believe it will boost ebid's profile, no, I'm not that naive.

When Ebay first started there was one simple insertion fee structure and one blanket FVF regardless of category or final selling price. However, Ebay seem to be behaving like your average American Corporation, that is, make it as complicated to manage as you physically can.
I spent 20 years of my life working for an American-owned company and the principle of 'different fees for different departments' is very much the norm.

As for the rules about only being able to list items in certain categories if they are on the 'list', this has been the rule for over a year for cameras, MP3 players and mobile phones.

As for Ebid, the number of registered users doubled during 2010, revenue (UK) was up 55% (US) 77% and the number of active listings now tops 4 million.
So, in summary, it has doubled in size, Ebay in comparison, remains static.
