    she cant work, she is almost 60 and worked hard all her life.

    Could she find something part time to help out? If things are bad financially, sometimes you haven't got the choice to retire early.
    Here I go again on my own....

    i get a non means tested benefit because i'm a disabled worker, why should my tax support your mum who chooses not to work because she's in her 50s?
  • I was a bit pi**ed off about the stick/grief/hastle I got today on here from some people when I asked if I could get a mortgage on Housing benefit, I thought some of the comments were unfair and uncalled for....... :mad: but I could see some small sense in what they were saying and some people were genuinely helpful/sympathetic to my plight.....

    Having said that, when I read what others ask/hope/expect off the welfare state, I'm hardly surprised I got some stick, however unjust I might have considered it.

    I was trying to save the state money, I certainly wasn't trying to take the state for a ride.....

    PLEASE TELL ME THAT THIS POST ISN'T GENUINE AND REALLY IT'S THE 1st APRIL AND I"VE SLEPT THROUGH THAT LAST FORTNIGHT IN A DRUG AND ALCOHOL INDUCED TRAUMA FROM MY EARLIER POST :eek::eek::eek:

    God help us...... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Hmmmmm, come on, it's nearly your birthday, do the world and yourself a FAVOUR and admit the truth, you read my post, instant reaction, benefit scrounger....

    I'm not stupid Nanny, just remember in future that some are here by choice, others are here by fate...... I guess that we all jump to conclusions and opinions, but remember this and it is one of my favourite quote.....

    OPINIONS ARE LIKE BOTTOMS (being polite), WE ALL HAVE ONE, JUST SOME SMELL MORE THAN OTHERS....

    Guess I'm saying, people shouldn't always be so quick to judge others, then again, sometimes people just extract the urine and deserve all the scorn they get...... :)

    No offence meant and none taken from your posts though and I hope you and yours are well and you have a great birthday :beer:

    Plenty of women in their late fifties work -most would probably like to retire but can't afford to. Nice as t is that you think your Mum shouldn't have to work-it's currently a luxury you as in the family unit "you" perhaps can't afford ?

    Benefits aren't interested in what you choose to pay out for (debts count as choice) just what income is coming in-however it sounds like you'd benefit from some proper debt counselling and help in that way. Through citizen's advice it is free and something you should consider doing . You can't continue as you are-you'll end up going insane !

    No I don't think you're a scrounger but I do think you don't understand how the system works -and that it isn't all how the Daily Mail portrays it ;)
