    Wish I had £1850 a month.

There are so many more people worse off than you and they still manage to live comfortably because they live within their means.

Housing won't take into account your car and your debts and rightly so.

  • wooow.. ok let me answer that.

MY MUM helped me a lot when I was in biggest sh*t, financially and in lots of other ways, yes, she has pension but in other country and paying with it for the loan I asked to take for me when I was in big trouble. she cant work, she is almost 60 and worked hard all her life. paying for her I kind of paying my loan off.

yes, we have 1 bedroom, Im renting the room and live with my mum in living room (its not open plan kitchen so for now we share the room, but it need to change), and yes, letting agency knows Im subleting temporarily.
so its £1850 all together, with the room.

yes, I need the car as I have got 3 jobs, live in london and without it I wouldnt be able to get quickly from one place to another. (the new job is 3rd)

Ive never asked for JSA, just help with my rent or c tax. I do understand when you saying that if I cannot afford 1 bedroom I should rent the room but why then councils give housing benefits at all? they shoudl tell everybody go and move to smaller place. I do work, I try my best and I know lots of ppl getting hosung when cannot be bothered to work. so I thought I should get some little help as well. but if u say Im wrong then maybe u r right, anyway, thanx for your answers.

You earn too much to get any help in the form of benefits
  • If we moved to a smaller place when we were getting housing benefit we would have been legally overcrowded, just as you are. If you went to get benefits then your mother's pension would be taken into account, regardless of what she was paying off adn regardless to what country her pension is in.

Councils pay housing benefit to those whose income do not cover the rent of the property or if the rent would not leave them enough to live on. It is an income based benefit. You are working AND getting money from a lodger. Debts are your own problem and not included when working out what you may/may not be entitled to. All that is counted is income (including anyone living with you, lodgers, family etc) and rent.

    so is this what happened?

You got into dinancial !!!!!! and your mother uses her pension to pay your loan?

you then move her in with you and take a lodger who pays rent

you got yourself and your mother into debt and you want taxpayer money to sort it out for you?

    hahahaha
    priceless!

    Typical.

OP if you are struggling on nearly 2 grand per month you should seek financial advice (see debt free wannabe board) as you may need to look at your options with regard to IVA, bankrupcy etc. Certainly you'll just get worse if you're struggling on your income with no long term game plan.

I also have a feeling that you are not allowed to receive rent even though you say your landlord knows about it! If you applied for housing benefit you would have to tell them this - ofcourse you would disclose this!!

Most BTL mortgages wont allow a house to become over crowded like this as it increases the risk of fire/damage.

No benefits come my way I'm afraid. I have a partner that works full time, and we don't get into debt!

seems you could do with a lesson on living within your means.
