Compression Stockings?

Options
I get prescribed compression stockings and I used to be able to order ones privately that came in colours not available on the NHS. My old stripey ones are done and I can't remember the company name at all to buy more online.

Does anyone know of a company that does stripey compression stockings in the medium compression range?

Sorry, can't help, but as a fellow compression stocking wearer I'd love to know the name of the company too. I've only ever been able to get them in beige or black...boring!

I've not bought the private ones in over a year, i had black opaque diamond ones, a pair of black and red striped ones and purple ones. I wore the striped ones to a musical festival last year and no one knew they were a disability aid, kind of sucks that i'm stuck with the rubbish nhs ones.

Well there's obviously a market for them! Perhaps it's worth e-mailing every manufacturer/brand asking whether they make any and if so where to obtain them and if not why not? support tights aren't just for grannies...

did you google 'striped support stockings'? I'm sure that gave me some hits, but I wasn't sure if they were all UK sites.

Could try froogle.co.uk? Found these, any good?

    These are over £75!

I wear a comression sleeve on my right arm as I have lymphodema and it too only comes in beige or black Mine comes from a company in Germany but I have never seen any in any other colours,it would be great to have a more cheery colour but I suppose because my sleeve is made to the excat measurements of my arm it would be even more expensive than it is at the moment .I amlucky that I can get it on the NHS but I do know mine cost around £270 odd to make.I am allowed two a year as washing does eventually put them out of shape. They do make a lightweight one but I can't get that on the NHS as its far too expensive ,it apparently is about as strong as the others but only the weight of a pop sock.I would love ones like that as my 'sleeve is very hot in the summer and quite uncomfortable to wear.

A friend of mine just had to spend a year in a back brace which came in, you guessed it, "granny is ill" beige. But they happened to have one there which was multicoloured and so she asked asked about it and was told that they only did patterned ones for children. Well, my friend isn't exactly one to be fobbed off with conventions for which there are no rules or reason. Eventually she came out with a multi-coloured flowery one. Much more fun.

Worth bearing in mind for anything made to measure I would think.

I can't find the site at all now. I know my last ones were expensive but I need to be compressed from before i get out of bed until I get back in again so it's worth the expense so I don't need to feel like a pensioner (try being 24, single and wearing granny socks, it doesn't work lol).

I get 4 pairs on the NHS every year, 2 at a time because the compression washes out after 6 months or so and they're no use to me unless they're tight.

If you ordered online, did you get an email acknowledgement, and will that still be lurking in your system? (it's why I love gmail!)

I have some of the white surgical stockings you have to wear post-op: a friend who normally lives in France but broke her wrist over here was sad to discover that NHS ones are white and 'obvious', in France she's had sexy black ones. :rotfl:

I don't have the email account any more and the packaging is long gone. I find it strange that there's not a label in them either :(

I have found a pair of grey wolly ones that aren't too bad and fit with the current leggings trend, also found navy which might not be too bad. I have white TEDs for really bad days but we dyed mine royal blue (it was a phase). I have a failed attempt at tye-dyed granny coloured ones (they were old and ready for the bin so i thought i might as well experiment.

This is a cool thread! :) I also wear compression stockings, as I have EDS and the lax connective tissue in my legs has led to me developing POTS (for which I take fludrocortisone) and swollen feet and ankles.

I have black stockings and am happy with those but it would be ace to have fun coloured ones and I LOVE stripes! I do wear big socks over the stockings in the winter but it's really hot in the summer.
