Yes! I've had one for a while now, mainly for booking Ryanair flights. It's very convenient for me. Got it when I needed to book flights at short notice. Went into Phones4U, bought card, phoned there and then to activate it and topped up in cash in store, went home and used it, no prob.
It costs £9.99 and is free to load in cash in store, there is another free way to load more details here.
http://www.compare-prepaid-cards.co.uk/escape-card.html . There are no further transaction charges.
Suits me fine, no further charges. I think it lasts for 3 years though, not sure, would need to check.
I just did a quick google and this link says you get £5 of your initial £9.99 back if you then load £100. Haven't got time to check if it''s a current offer or not atm, might be worth checking though http://www.compareprepaid.co.uk/reviews/escape-card.html

I found this on the compare cards website given in post above
:
I would not recommend this card at all! I bought this card based omn the information on there website BUT it does not provide full information there. It advertises 99p charge to top up your card by debit card, including online – when you try to do this the customer services tell you that you can only do this by upgrading your card for another 4.99 ontop of the 9.99 it already cost you! Also it does not make it clear that once you’ve topped up your card (in however many transactions) to the limit of the card you then have to buy a new one – It is not a transaction limit but an accumalitive limit. I have since ordered a card from neteller which is free and ongoing
I think I might go for Fairfx after all even though I would have to load £60 to get started. Can anyone say what is then minimum top up?
Otherwise Neteller - I was put off by the fact it takes 3 weeks to come. How do people on this board find that card?
Maybe its time Martin updated the info about these cards, how can we put in a plea for that? The Escape card being fairly new isnt included at present.0 -
to follow up on my post above asking for comments about Neteller
http://public.neteller.com/content/en/cards_index.htm
as far as I can see the charges are for ATMs and currency so if you want it just for Ryanair its free no charges
Whereas you have to pay for Escape card and also go in shop etc to top up for free. And Fairfx seems to charge 1.4% transaction charge if you have your card in poiunds rather than euros (euros fine but there will be a conversion to pounds made by Fairfx that you have to trust?)
The only thing is I cant see how much you have to put on a Neteller card to start off and what min top up is. If you want to cancel your card at any time there is a charge but of course this is easy to avoid by just spending the money and cutting up the card.
Have I got all this correct? Can anyone answer my Neteller questions?
Many thanks0 -
I'm not bothered to push this card, it suits my simple needs.....
but I think that reviewer leanne did not read the T&C properly. The load limit on a regular "instant" 1 year card is £650. Presumably she wanted to load more and therefore needed to upgrade.
As far as I am concerned it is a card which expires in 3 years, regardless of transactions in between time, as long as you stay within the card's credit limit.
A lot of the people reviewing are getting their wages put on the card and trying to use it as a debit/credit card, I'm sure it becomes more problematic then.
My needs are simple and it does the job.............still if the neteller card is totally free, sounds worthwhile.0 -

The FairFX rate is very good when you are billed in GBP on a Euro card, significantly better than the one Ryanair use!
Even better, book your (ryanair) return flight separately, as then it is in Euros anyway - and the fees are cheaper - 6E instead of £6, and so on.0 -

I posted further up and still hopefull of a reply - what is initial load on Neteller in pounds and how much subsequently???
