Please don't discuss the actions of the Forum Team on the boards. Instead - take it up with them using either the link in my signature, or the one at the top of every page.

    Why are people banned (PPR'd)?

We don't remove people's posting privileges (PPR or ban) lightly. No one pays anything to use this site; and our first consideration must be towards protecting it from increased cost and legal challenge (although on mainstream issues of consumers rights we may choose to take battles on). Posting on MoneySavingExpert.com is a privilege not a right. We can refuse permission to post without giving a reason.

In the past, we tried hard not to PPR long-standing forum users. Sadly, we had so many issues taking time away from our core MoneySaving work, that protection had to go. Now, if someone's persistently causing trouble, they're PPR'd.

See more about this in How do I report a post?.

Our decision to suspend or stop any user's posting privileges (PPR) may be final.

The posting ban applies to any/all user accounts used by or in the name of that person.

People who are on here to cause trouble will be PPR'd immediately. Yet we may be forced to do the same with generally helpful posters, who get in spats or cliques, or push it too far.

For that we've introduced a new card system, to give people legitimate expectations.

Sometimes the Forum Team will give users a quiet word of warning for breaking the rules if they are getting close to a Yellow Card.

If your posting privileges are suspended or terminated, please don't attempt to re-register on the Forum or make any posts in any guise whatsoever.

When banned former users do re-register or otherwise disrupt the Forum, this can cause severe distress to other users. Dealing with unwanted former forum users' posts distracts the team from the core purpose of the site and takes up time. Therefore in such circumstances we may:
    • Report offenders to their ISP
    • Charge offenders for the administrative costs of identifying and removing their posts at the rate of £40 per hour, plus any external costs that we incur.
    • Take legal action to recover these costs
    • Report offenders to the authorities if their actions appear to amount to a breach of the Computer Misuse Act 1990 or any other relevant criminal legislation.

If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
