my daughter and her friend saved up their baby sitting money and booked flights and hotel in Paris for a post gcse trip. they spent 4days eating out, seeing the sights etc and organized the whole thing themselves! she has always been the sensible one ! This was about 9 years ago so not back in the dark ages.0

Do you know the other girls parents to ring and ask? Mine are a lot younger but apparantly everyone elses mum buys their children more things, sends them to bed later and tells them off less often than I do.

I did wonder if we are talking about a yr11 16yo or one that is over compulsory school leaving age. Certainly I got more freedom after I had 'left' school.elisamoose wrote: »my daughter and her friend saved up their baby sitting money and booked flights and hotel in Paris for a post gcse trip. they spent 4days eating out, seeing the sights etc and organized the whole thing themselves! she has always been the sensible one ! it might be worth speaking to the other parents as a friends son led her to believe that they were going away with someone else parents and they weren't they were going by themselves .
Also will the hostel allow a group of under 18's to stay as a some don't0 -
I'm 24, i wouldn't let a 16 year old of mine do it!! 16 is really young, and no doubt they probably want to go to Brighton and get drunk? What draw is there to go to a british coastal town for a 16 year old? They're hardly going to be into fine dining!
If they're in a hostel i would worry about hygiene...and the kind of people who are staying there. They might be ok, but someone like Dave101t might be sniffing about.0 -
It rather depends on how mature you think she is and the other girls she is going with. I would ring up the other girls' parents and speak to them about setting the girls some ground rules. And do some research into the hostel and the local area, it will give you an idea of what they could get up to,
Me and 5 other friends went camping for 10 days when we were 16. One of the rules was that we had to ring one of our parents everynight just so someone knew we were ok (wasn't that easy either as we didn't have mobiles then and had to walk 3 miles every day to the nearest pay phone).Remember never judge someone that makes a mistake, because in six months time it may be you that makes the next mistake.0 -
They probably want the parents to stump up the £ for a hotel. Shock tactics. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

shes 16 she could move out and live on her own if she so wished sorry to be blunt but you have to stop treating her like a kidReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0

Do you know the other girls parents? if not insist you have a number and phone them do a snidy what is your daughter taking (just to establish they are going) My eldest is just hitting 16 would not be to happy because it would cause me worry. If all the parents were aware though I would allow life experience and all that.0
