Well I gave Total Fitness a call the other day. No luck with a refund for the rest of the month...
Don't think you should be relying on luck to get a refund. ;)

If they owe you money because they have not provided the service that you have paid for, then you are entitled to a refund.

Of course, if the alternative arrangements suit you, then use the service they are providing.

I've been told that Tesco put in a bid for the place (TF building) which was significantly higher than what TF were paying the landlord and before you know it TF are no more (at Lancaster). I wouldn't be surprised if it was a Tesco, or a clothes place such as Primark.

Personally, i would like to see Fitness First come in and 'save the day'. I emailed them asking if they'd be interested. I didn't expect a reply & didn't get one.

Wealdroam - I got your advice. I can't remember if i asked now. I know i was going to, but what about when they don't reply? Or when they do reply, but they basically tell you "haha....ha, we've got your money, there's nothing you can do"? What then? As i can see 1 of these 2 happening.

From looking into this, i've found generally negative feedback on VVV, whereas DW seems to get generally positive feedback, which is back to front for me, as DW is the furthest away.

I've been 'tipped off' for the gym at Morecambe FC, Thurnham Hall, Garstang, Lancaster House & the new Lancaster Uni.

Busy and small gyms to me are really no good though. I had this with St Martins - too many times did i turn up only to drive away again because i couldn't get on a single machine.

I need treadmills, cross trainers & leg weight machines really. I've looked into some, but from what i can see they're small & with TF falling out, i suspect the local gyms are going to get rammed.

Sure would help if Fitness First came through though.

Thanks for the tip. I think i've been to the Mariott before - if that's the place that often has weddings. Bit of a travel in the wrong direction for me i'm afraid.

I wish i could be motivated enough to go pavement pounding. Even if i could be though, it plays havoc with my shins.

Had a gander at that, but that just seems to be folk discussing their progress etc. While helpful & motivational in itself, it's not helping people get their money back etc.

Please don't take that comment the wrong way though. It's impossible to portray tone of voice through text & it wasn't meant in a snotty way.

    No, I'm fine :)

I suggested it as possible support etc. depending on what you decide to do. If you decide to run/cycle or run up and down stairs all day...

    :)

Aye. I've already been putting weight back on. When i started going 4x per week to TF, i was touching 13st. I got down to just under 12st towards the end of it. I'm at about 12-4, 12-5 now. 4lbs in a couple weeks.

I'm not one to go off scales a great deal. I'm more about how you feel, but even that, i'm not feeling the best. I'm more lethargic. I'm someone who needs the gym. I can't get motivated to do anything outside - such as pavement pounding. Motivation aside, pavement pounding flares up my shins & ankles. When i'm at the gym though i can do it all & enjoy it too.

Had word back from a local gym today. They can't meet my needs though - limit users to 10mins a time when it's busy. They charge nearly £500 per year. Not good enough imo.
