Taking the door off also helps a bit as well as the door jamb.0

Unfortunately thats probably only too true. :cool:If its a multi national company that fitted the door then undo two screws and give the door frame a light tap with a rubber mallet and the whole door and frame should pop out....... ;o))
I have no idea what you are talking about so here's a bunny with a pancake on its head:If you do have a uPVC front door then the sofa must have come from DFS so it will fit ;o)))))))))))))))))))))))))

Apart from a smaller entrance due to a UPVC door being fitted, it is also possible that the walls may be thicker due to sound proofing/plasterboard having been fitted thereby also reducing the space available.0

all sofas will fit into 99% of houses.
theres a simple knack of getting them in. either at an angle, or upright and twisting them.
very rarely do windows or door frames need to come out.
Agreed. I'm wondering on what basis you have decided that the door isn't big enough. I'd be surprised if a standard sized IKEA sofa wouldn't go through a standard size door. I have a very large sofa in my sitting room and panicked when it was delivered as there is a very sharp turn into the room. The delivery guys laughed it off and got it in within a couple of seconds. We've moved it ourselves when the floors were stripped and had no trouble once the cushions were off. As ormus says, angle, upright and/or twisting. Sofas already in the house suggests no problem!0

I think that one of the problems now is that sofas are being made a lot larger and many properties aren't that big.
We had an old style three seater sofa that was moved in with no problem, the newer type 3 seaters are much bigger and we were told that we wouldn't be able to get it in(fairly low ceiling height) unless we removed window!0

have a look underneath the sofa to see if there's anything obvious to let you take it apart...
or google the sofa style + Ikea to see if there's a way of dismantling it.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
