Thank God I didn't phone my wife to ask for her opinion. She runs a hospital discharge team for social services and does stuff like this every day.zzzLazyDaisy wrote: »NOooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! It's not is it?
My faith in human nature and the veracity of MSE posters destroyed in one stroke.....
(I reckon the dog is buried under the patio along with the late husband)
I'd never have lived it down.
Unless I kept schtum of course!

Sorry, I'm usually fussy about that. Maybe my train of thought was running too fast and typed it intending it to mean buyer's solicitors or some other thing appertaining to the buyer, and then changed it and didn't notice the mistake, but yes... mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa,,,,,,RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
Can completion take place without the vendor's solicitor being there? Or did she go through with completion with her coat on and the suitcases by the door? Or did you not think that bit of the tale through?
Yes - I know one where the Vendor in Hospital and his Solicitor on holiday. Everything was ready for completion and the paralegal did it all.0 -
Who put the house up for sale?
Who has been arranging the care home?
It also seems odd to me that a 90 year old has used an equity release scheme and is potless.
The sellers solicitor must do better than 'he is on holiday' doesn't this solicitor have a mobile phone?
I'd be trying the police, the council, my MP and the local newspaper!
OP you have a mortgage on a home that you are sharing with the ex owner which the lender may see the funny side but is not what they agreed to, you can't have valid insurance in place and you need to get more keys cut!
Don't accept any rent from the old lady as you could be creating a tenancy, also don't offer her any rent.
Would really love to know the outcome of this!0 -

Aww...be fair. The guy is a solicitor, not a professor of the English language.
My spelling and grammar are pants, I already know this - you don't need to tell me.
