user name says it all really, a bit at our wits end and dare we say in a quandary
As a background, we completed today on our new house and we decided to leave our stuff in storage and after getting confirmation from the EA that we can collect the key from the vendor, a 90 year old, we turned up paint in hand and ready to christen the place only to find our vendor, Daphne sitting there in her nightie eating shepherds pie watching The Alan Titchmarsh show.
We asked her why she hadnt moved out and she didnt seem to havemuch recollection of having to move. We spoke to the solicitor who is flummoxed to say the least. The vendors solicitor is on holiday and it appears she was supposed to be moving into a carehome but nothing has been arranged. The house proceeds have been paid back to one of these companies which she had an equity release and she is potless.
We couldnt throw her out tonight and she has offered us her spare room. I dont know who to call, it isnt a Police matter, she is vague and clearly not all there and we are lodging. HELP!

OMG I feel for you. Her solicitor might be on holiday, but they always have partners that can act on their behalf when they are away. What did your solicitor say? I would insist that this woman move in with family. Let us know how you get on.0

Are there going to be dogs in this thread? Maybe a campervan in the drive?“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

she has no family. We had her life story this afternoon, husband Willy died 60 years ago, no kids, were planning a family and she has lived in the house all her life. The solicitor didnt get back to our solicitor. She is quite nice and has offered to cook us dinner but if you saw the state of the cooker... yuk.
Thankfully we are able to pick up BTFon on the laptop otherwise we will be cut off.
She doesnt realise she has sold the house, this is te bizarre bit, she just told us she will be going to bed after Corrie and could we keep the noise down and could we put the cat out later0 -
Bet she's died and the OP is burying her in the back garden by page 5...0

r u guys normally this full of advice? We are going to walk into the village I think and see if there is a restaurant/chippie/kebab van open. OH just asked for the key and was told there is only one key and "if you lose it, i dont know what i will do". She is going to let us in, so we are gonna have to be back by 9.
Hopefully solicitor should sort this out tomorrow  I knew on the last viewing we did last week that she didnt look like she was packing0 -
