Almost without exception, the most disruptive and ill-behaved children I encounter professionally are those whose parents automatically take the childs side as soon as there is an issue at school, thus undermining the authority of the school.
Im confused by your posts. You stated that where children didn't learn by a teachers first warnings they were sent to the head and beaten. You then said if they complained at home they would get another well deserved beating for their trouble. What an utterly sick thing to write. Were you beaten as a child then??? You then said you would be quite happy for this system to be introduced at your childrens school. Am I missing something. You did write this then you claim that you wouldn't want your children beaten.
When myself and another poster were shocked by this you said you didn't agree with kids getting beaten. Make up your mind. There is a huge difference between smacking a 10 year old on the bottom and beating it. Any adult who cant discipline a child by talking to it and showing a good example has lost control if they hit it.
If thats really your opinion on good discipline I wouldn't want you anywhere near young kids. Im not prepared to get into an argument with someone who thinks that way. I find your views very bizarre and concerning and really hope you never come into proffessional contact with my child.0 -

A student once taped me, with no ill intent, and gave me the recording at the end of the lesson. I was astonished how many times I interrupted myself:rotfl:This thread unfortunately did what I feared, made certain people jump to the conclusion that they know "my little darling's a brat" and deserves to be filmed.
The seniour teacher was made aware of the filming by the Teacher themselves after the kids had suggested it didn't seem right and that Seniour Teacher has with the consent of the Head approached parents.
It is unfortunate that some people have been quite so vociferous, but this is MSE and that will happen.
I would love to know WHY the teacher did this, but I wonder if you will ever get the real story from school. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -

I agree with sjc3 you did state that you would be happy for a system to be re-introduced at your childs school whereby a child was sent to the head and beaten if they played up after misbehaving and having a warning
What kind of parent would give another well deserved beating to a child complaining of having been beaten by their head teacher.
I wouldn't want you anywhere near my kids proffessionally or otherwise. I think your views on child discipline are awful and id be very concerned if you worked at my childs school. Fortunately the proffessionals who work with my kids would never lower themselves to hit a child. Apart from it being against the law its also a disgusting way to treat a child.0 -
My GF's brother was beaten by a teacher until his legs were bleeding for forgetting his gym shorts, h had not forgotten his gym shorts he was not allowed to play team games because of a skin condition which made his skin very fragile and the PT teacher who punished him was well aware of this.
As his parents had told him if he got punished at school they would punish him as well he didn't tell them and they only found out when he got infection in the wounds.
Fantastic system, I can't see why anyone would object to it. Unless they were of course not a total nutter. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

If it were me I would not take the say so from a child, nor listen to chinese whispers from a ''senior member of staff''. if it bothers you, which it clearly does or you would not have started a thread! Then why not confront the issue through the obvious channels? The headteacher. If I were bothered by this, I would ask for a meeting to discuss it through, that way you would know what the purpose of the fimling was, or if this actually even happened the way your child/senior member of staff/cleaner etc etc, said or of at all!
Personally if my childs teacher felt her class was disruptive, and the only way she could make them/ other staff see what she had to deal with ws by filming then so be it, children these days can be proper little sh!tes, I feel sorry for teachers of young teens, because I think even the most motivated, discaplined teacher would struggle with some of the students they have in classes.0 -

Thanks for your thoughts. I don't really think that a Seniour Member of Staff is going to call parents when all he's heard are chinese whispers!! He was present at the Meeting which the Teacher in question initiated. So from the horses mouth. It was then decided that calling parents would be the plan of action, with the promise of follow up details where necessary. Please remember that I didn't simply take my childs word for it and suggested that, this was something that the teacher must have had some reason for doing . As I've also said I had no intention of following it up when my daughter told me. Starting the thread, as said previously, was literally to see what the stand point was considering the school had contacted parents.
As I'm satisfied that this was done to collect evidence of children not working when they should be, I am not doing anything about it, so no I'm not that bothered and my child I've been told was not one of those, misbehaving and I wouldn't have expected anything different.
Hopefully finally,I've made my stance clearer.0
