  • good lord give me strength, came in from the kitchen this morning after leaving DD in her highchair eating porridge and jam to find she had been flinging it around, it was everywhere!! Carpet now has nice blackberry jam stains all over it and I've hadto give her an emergency bath to get rid of the remnants on her. I was already up against it after making a roast and then being out for the rest of the night. Oh well, I've just checked the list to find that I have already done a fair bit of it so its not all bad news...that should give me some extra time to clean the carpet.

Woke up ridiculously early so scrubbed all the kitchen surfaces and tiled areas and cleaned the two windows in there too. Towels currently blowing on the line - sunny here, but very cold! 2nd lot of washing sounds as if it's reached the final spin stage. Need to change and wash the bedding next I guess.

Thanks, nixie and jinky. The calculator doesn't work for anyone under 18, but was a nice thought. I don't want DS1 to move out and there's absolutely no need for him to go, but he sees it as a big adventure - all sparked off by a friend whose mum has thrown him out.

I was going to say stuff, but pigpen did it so much better than I could :A

    Ooh BTDT...

If they are living with parents and in FT education they are entitled to nothing.. or if the parent is willing to allow them to live at home they are not entitled to anything.

If they are unable to live at home.. and they have to go through social services or a homeless shelter and prove they are homeless they may get a flat in a hostel with teens who are drug addicts, prostitutes, aggressive criminals etc.. many have mental health problems.

DS1 cannot get a place of his own because he is in FT education and he doesn't get any money, even though he lived elsewhere for 3 years and is almost 20.

When he was with GF they got income support (£75 a fortnight) £30 EMA each IF they both attended college all week on time! and obviously child benefit and tax credits for Jacob which DS wouldn't get.

DS1 just said.. tell him he said 'don't be such a *silly person* blag off your mum you are so much better off.. you have no bills to pay at home and no food to cook, no washing to do and no !!!!!!'ed mates coming round in the middle of the night !!!!!! up or bleeding or worse. Your mate will drop out of college and be a *semen stain* for the rest of his life'

DD1 has a friend whose mum left him here and went back to Poland.. he doesn't eat as he has no money, he doesn't goto college as noone is there toencourage him or get him out of bed. He is in a crappy little bedsit with no heating because he can't afford it.. he gets £30 EMA providing he goes to college and about £50 income support.. out of this he has food, gas, electric, clothes, water and phone credit to buy. He is incredibly depressed, has lost about 3 stone and rarely gets to college.

He can leave home soon enough but for now he needs to be with you supporting him financially and practically andshould have pity for his mate whose family don't love him enough to care about his wellbeing and safety.

Does he want to talk to DS1 who has been there and done it and come back home?

MrsChaos, If you need help sorting his benefit entitlement, do give me a shout, and I can check while I'm at work :)

I've been running and done the kitchen :j I have a pile of admin to do, and then into the garden :j:j:j

I gave up a few mins early - everything else that wants doing is too noisy and likely to wake bubs - and I'm not risking that! The little monkey is refusing spoons at the minute, not willing to deal with a sleep deprived monster on top of that!

That said, I still made him 3 yummy portions of cheat's sweet potato and chicken risotto during my HHC to tempt him!

    Also:

    Sorted change bag for today
    Did more washing shuffles
    Cleared worktop in the kitchen
found some clothes for bubs to wear
    Gave bathroom a going over

Off to get myself dressed and organised - the kitchen can wait!

    Hi Everyone,
I'm in this week, thank you to FLC for the fred and lists.
Got a poorly wee son here, lying on sofa all hot-headed, sick and pathetic. Think it's what eldest son and I had at the end of last week, but much worse. He actually fainted at lunch yesterday. Poor wee sowel.
Good news, eldest son and youngest daugher were in Orkney over the weekend for the Scottish Community drama awards and their theatre group won. They're really pleased, particularly as the group had written the play themselves. Very chuffed for them.
Off to find my listy. I am absolutely determined to get at least some of that utility room done today, so kick me if I don't pls.Monday ~ Kitchen and Dining room

    Debt-free and Proud!
Morning all, I'm in again this week, thanks to Pigpen, Toots and Asbo Toots.

Thanks for the ebay advice last week, DH was most grateful.
Just skimmed the thread and am sending hugs to all with other half troubles esp. Greenbee and Jojo.

Mrs Chaos; I was left alone from 15 and didn't realise that there was anyone to help me. I'm a practical person and have always just got on with what needs doing but it hasn't always been easy. I love my life now and wouldn't change a thing but now my DD is 15, it breaks my heart to think of her out there alone and I do sometimes think of the life not lived/the road not travelled. Your child is in a totally different situation with a loving, supportive mother and Mudbath's comment about resisting 'I told you so' and Pigpens patience and understanding to her DS1 are examples well worth paying attention to. Hope he decides to stay home.

    Love your signature Crafty

Have got an email back from our contacts in Japan and they and their families are safe so am relieved but still thinking of everyone out there.
