i have vertical at all windows in this house they were left by the last owner, they are much easier to keep clean than venetian blinds which i had and left in the old house, only problem we have with the vertical blinds is the dogs especially the springer spanial who is 18 months old kept getting tangled in the things holding them together on the bottom so we took them all out problem solved!0

I've yet to come across a roller/venetian/roman blind that is 2.4m wide and 2m high, sometimes there aren't any other options than vertical blinds for some windows0

Seems like everyone in our street have got vertical blinds, & they personally remind me of the doctors or dentist. Missus recently bought some woodgrained venetian blinds from ebay, & they look good, which is something coming from me, as i dont usually notice things around the house lol The best thing about them, they were cheap lol0

I think verticle blinds are a bit officey looking & would rip them out if they were in a house I bought. Roman blinds look much nicer (IMHO) & as a previous poster says are very easy to make. Wooden blinds are everywhere, but suit modern & traditional interiors, can be quite expensive though. Argos, ikea both good for cheap blinds.
You can also get paper blinds if you want privacy but light, ok for a sale but dont suppose they last long.0 -
I HATE vertical blinds with a passion! I am buying my next house from my sister and they are in the living room and all the bedrooms. She told me the other night that my little angel of a nephew broke the cord on the living room ones the other day and you now open and close them by rotating the little knob with your finger. I am devastated. I will now be forced to take them down and throw them away on the day I move in.
I will be waiting in the bedrooms til I can get nice wooden venetian blinds tho. I have got one of those fancy venetian blind dusters from the Kleeneze catalogue for the blinds that make them really easy to clean!"Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

I've got wood verticals and I love them. They look much smarter than the patterned nets that were left here by that last owner. Everyone has different tastes. Personally I can't stand Roman blinds and I'm not keen on venetians, especially the one that was left in my kitchen with an inch of grease on each lat. I would dream of insulting people who had blinds I didn't like though.
I like my verticals, even though they are apparantly "cheap" "nasty" "horrid" and "officy". Some people are just so rude :rolleyes:Here I go again on my own....0 -
you can get a kit to make roman blinds they are quite easy to make and it means you can choose a nice fabric of your choice i got two kits from dunhelm(but quite a while ago!) and bought the fabric from laura ashley to make bedroom and bathroom blinds they were fully lined and looked a treat! good luck!0

I have both, don't think they look cheap, I hate nets and voiles with a passion. Blinds are handy for keeping the bright sun in but not pointing at my computer aswell. My blinds certainly were not cheap and aren't nastyOne day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
Don't personally like the vertical blinds - loads of folk round where I live have them though. In our last place we had wooden venetian blind which I liked [from Ikea and fairly reasonable at the time].
Have also in the past made roman blinds and wasn't too diffy. If its for selling I'd go for cheapest that lets in lots of light and show the rooms to best advantage.........
Good luck with the selling
