Hey I have a 2007 Honda Civic, someone decided to totally kick off my right hand side wing mirror last night:mad: I have managed to celloptape it back on to the car however the plastic is all shattered and its dangling slightly. Should I goto a Honda car garage and pay a fortune for a new part and labour? Or should I try and buy a new part of ebay and goto a local garage for labour? I'm also really struggling to find a full right hand Civic electric wing mirror on the internet, I can also find places to buy the glass for the mirror....

Have you tried scrap yards yet for a replacement, ebay is a good idea but a scrappy could be cheaper

I don't have time to goto scrap yards, I'd rather just buy a new part from the net and get a local guy to fix it?

As somebody else suggested, try a scrapdealer. There are online sites that allow you to enter the part you want very precisely and then any scrapdealers that have it will contact you with the price. I found a petrol flap for an old Volvo in an unusual colour using this method.
You may also want to get a quote from your Honda dealer as when my lovely husband reversed my Accord into a skip (grrrr!) they were able to repair it the following day. They have all the parts on computer and can see if they have one in the country in the correct colour and have it delivered by 9am the following day. The price was less than I expected and I accepted it as I needed it doing quickly. At least it will give you an idea of the retail cost before you buy elsewhere. Good luck!

Would it be even be possible to fix my existing wing mirror?
  • I Imagine you'd be shafted at Honda for a Mirror... Complete mirror at Mercs for a 202 C Class was close on £400 a few years back.. 3rd party Insurance paid for it so that why I went the dealer route..

Ebay I'd be looking at TBH... And dead easy to swap a mirror unit over so have a bash yourself and save a few quid

Already tried ebay with no luck. Its the complete mirror unit but as someone smashed it right off, so do you think I could try and fix it myself?

I had my drivers side mirror broke over night while I had left my car parked at a friends house after a few drinks. Car was left in a little car park with about 5 or 6 spaces.

I can't see a reason why it got broke. Which leads me to believe that the owner of the car that was parked next to me done it while walking through the gap between the cars.
