    A horrible day.

Had to take my car in for repair to the engine management system last week. Was charged £260 for some relatively minor repairs but they warned me that the problem might be something more serious.

Sure enough I've had to take it back today, and its going to cost me another £570

Oh no, what a bummer :( I hope it's all safe and done now.

  • I intended a no spend day, but failed miserably! I went to pick up a parcel at lunchtime, parked in tesco as its free but then had to buy disposable camera for my daughter who is going to a wedding with her grandma at the weekend and while i was there bought a xmas card for hubby and some sellotape plus a tv mag cos the one I got free with the Sunday paper is completely wrong!!!

£9.17 is my total spend for today!

Spent £3.00 on bus fare (but did make it last all day and 5 different buses so worked out really cheap) but also had to get shopping so spent £15.00 and £1.25 on lunch (was really fed up so wanted something to warm me up) so that is it for this week tomorrow will be a no spend day for me.

Hope everyone has had a better day. (Oh almost forgot promised dd chips for tea so thats another £1.10 :( )

  • Hey folks

Was hoping for a small ish spend today as off to slimming world tonight £4.25 but that's in budget so only £1 for raffle.

Then the unthinkable happens.... my hob has been playing up for a while and it's insured (I know I've paid more in insurance, never again!) so out comes the little man who says it's uneconomic to repair  and they only give us a % towards new one - why did I insure the thing and not read the small print??? We have managed to get a good discount on replacement but it's still going to cost £100. Now I'm due a commission cheque for £108 next week (which I was hoping to pay off cc) but looks like it's a new hob instead. I'm trying to be positive, the old me would have had a better model, had it delivered and stuck in on the cc. Instead I've gone for reasonable model, paid debit card and dh is collecting it (saving another £35). Oh and I haven't taken out insurance again!

ouch, ouch!! all my sympathies. Cars are SO expensive when something goes wrong. Mine had a teeny metal box bit (the acceleratometer or something ... no I've never heard of it either) go bust recently and it cost £200 to fix  I hope once it's fixed your car will run OK for you Karb for a very very long time, with no more unpleasant surprises!!

Just off to collect DD from school.
So, unless I get lassooed and dragged into a shop, it will be a No Spend Day for me today. :j

  • Unfortunately I have spent today. Not on a naughty snack as I fancied earlier (I was saved by my boss going out and getting fig rolls which I scoffed), but did need to pop to tesco's on way home to get some bits which came to £6.

But this did include Tesco own brand shampoo and conditioner for £1.28 each. Never tried it before, but it is a lot less than my usual and I thought what the heck its not like its value (apologies if anyone uses value) stuff, quite looking forward to using it actually which is rather sad.

Tomorrow should be a no spender, going to make a light lunch to take in to work and going over to a work friends after work for a big feast (will be taking bottle of wine, but its one from our cupboard) and then off home. Will only be driving part of the way as one of my other work friends and I will be car sharing.

    Take it easy
