Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday13th March. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread.

Nice to see someone else is awake at this stupid hour on a Sunday ;)

Been up since 6am courtesy of DD, can she not understand the concept of a lie in on a weekend <rollseyes>

It's wet and dull here so DS will no doubt be bouncing from the walls. He's completed 50 nights of us not sitting in his bedroom (turns out he's afraid of the dark, he's finally managed to tell us) so his reward was a Ben 10 Wii game so hopefully that will keep him occupied for a fair bit :o

No plans for today, ironing needs doing, DS wants to bake a cake for tomorrow, need to put the vac round and I didn't manage to get to Sainsbugs so will head up there this morning (oh joy ;))

Tea....hmmm probably roast chicken. Ya know just for a change :rotfl::rotfl:

Hope the snow has disappeared for those of you affected.
Hugs, spoons and high fives all round. Have a good day OS or not.

Just had a look at BBC news, more problems at the Japan Nuclear reactor, there was a still pic of a little boy being checked with a gieger counter I assume :(:(:( I really hope we don't end up with another Chernobyl....

    Morning all
The wedding reception was good fun last night, the bride looked lovely, she wore a red Prom style dress.
The inlaws are visiting today & I CBA to make a roast dinner so I'm doing lasagne with salad & garlic bread, for pudding we have chocolate brownies, apple crumble & fresh pineapple with icecream or custard. I didn't get any housework done yesterday as I was gardeners mate, so I need to do it this morning.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone

Managed to complete the piece of work yesterday and then loaded it onto my little red notebook (easier for travel) which hadn't been used for about 2 months and then spent the rest of the evening loading all the updates from various programmes  took about 3 hours all in.

Brekkie will be a protein shake as I have to be out by 8.00a.m. and off now to North Yorkshire and I'm a tad behind time. Will now have spent all weekend on work related stuff so not too happy but will take the time back at some point, though am away Wednesday to Sunday next week.

Fell off the food wagon yesterday, think it's stress related and now feel like all the rubbish I ate. Bunged up nose (chocolate) and bloated digestion (everything else). Back to water and protein for me cos I feel so much better.

There'll be no housework here today :j evening meal will be the chicken in the paste I made the other day, it's delicious and easy to make too.

Hope everyone has a good Sunday.

Good morning people - hugs and thoughts to all in need.
I've been AWOL for a while, due to work. But I'm back, attempting to tame the new PC which we got on Friday. I never realised how basic my old one was. I get the impression that this one can do everything except make the tea and let the cat out (!) We have retired the old PC , which DH will take for his own nefarious uses. I was embarrassed to see how much cr*p had accumulated in my desk - it has filled a collapsible crate, and needs to be got rid of today.

In my absence, I got to grips with my Mr T BM, and have worked out how to make a wholemeal/slightly seeded loaf which the ever fussy DH actually likes. Admittedly, I did use a breadmix, then aded additional yeast and Vitamin C, but he is very impressed. I think he is sold on the taste difference, but it will be a while before we can stop contributing to the W
ns empire, as I am still experimenting. To be fair to DH, he is sold on the fact that we can make a loaf (even with the bread mix, the power and the raising agents) for less than £1.
Ho hum. Back to the grindstone - hope everyone has the best day possible.

Morning all!! I'm never usually up this early on a sunday as it's usually my only chance of a lie in. However I'm just too excited to sleep, and didn't manage to sleep til 2am. Lol.
It all happened the other day, when a girl I know from school put a message on facebook about having to rehome a cat that had been abandonded and needed to find a home for him as she couldn't keep him. Before i'd had chance to reply to the message, another friend of hers had replied saying she could have him.
I was a bit dissappointed as I would have liked him, however I was pleased he was going to a nice new loving home. Only yesterday, when they went to drop the cat off at her house she'd obviously changed her mind and she then turned her phone off when they tried to contact her and the poor cat was waiting in a carry box for an hour to see it his new mummy was going to have him. But nope, mustve changed her mind and either couldn't be bothered to say or felt too guilty to say, I don't know. But either way the cat was distressed at being messed around and then ended up at the girl who'd taken him in's mums house in a dog crate overnight ( where he still is).
So, whilst feeling sorry for the poor thing, I also thought, maybe it's fate cuz now he gets to come and live with me afterall :-D
so I'm off to collect him a bit later, need to do a bi of shoppin first for kitty essentials when the shops open at 10am and then will make the long walk to collect him and get a taxi home with him.
I'm so excited, been years since I've had the pleasure of owning a cat, he's called salem and he's black and looks to be semi long haired - just like my very first cat :-).
Anyway. Sorry for rambling, just trying to kill some time before I can go cat essential shopping, hopefully as MSE as possible as this is all a little impromptu, and kind of the wrong side of payday!!
Not too much going on OS wise, will be making a cottage pie later for some portions for the freezer.
Also I shall be eating creme eggs. As I bought a six pack yesterday frOm home b@rgains and somehow three of them managed to fall into my mouth that very same afternoon. Oops.
    Enjoy your Sunday everybody!!

NPM - really hope the trial works for Noah xx

OK didn't want to start a whole new thread but I want to have a go at making wholewheat bread. Just a simple bread, no seeds or anything.
My BM recipe uses milk powder which I didn't want to use. I just need a recipe for quantities of flour, sugar, salt, yeast and water. Anyone got one?

    Morning All!
Woke up nearly an hour ago - Why?? No need to be up yet at all! Anyway I decided to clean out the fridge that's out in the garage and has needed doing for....a very long time! All clean and sparkly again now, so can afford a self-satisfied smirk!
Littlelauz - I'm so pleased you get to keep the new kitty after all! Enjoy!
Bitsy, I'd have thought 50 nights must be enough to break the habit - so good news there.
Busy day churchwise as we sing choral evensong as well today. DH in charge of cooking - roast pork it'll be.
We treated ourselves to a meal out using the tastecard yesterday and found a lovely little pub in a village about 12 miles away. The food was really fantastic - and half-price!! may well take DSis and BIL there when they visit at the end of this month.
Oh well, time to make tea and get showered, methinks.
Hope you all have a good day today. Take care.

    Think twice before spending anything!
