  • I've just got home from work and found an exactly the same letter. Now I'm really worried too.

I'll call UK Search Ltd tomorrow and see what they say.... hope I don't need to go to all the effort of writing letters etc.

    Anymore advice please...:(

Have you ever had a contract with whichever network they state in their letter ?
  • Yes, they state it's with Orange (whom I'm still with). I called Orange and they say I'm totally up to date with my payments and have no record of me ever having missed a payment.

I did go away from Orange for a year or so, a while back, but presumably they wouldn't have given me another contract if I'd ever have owed them money ?
  • Hi cmfstimson,

I would strongly urge you to contact UK Search on the number provided on the original correspondence you received from them and ask for them to provide you with further details of how the balance has been accrued. If they are not able to give details immediately then they will be able to obtain this information through the appropriate channels.

If you have no luck contacting UK Search I would recommend contacting Arrow Global directly on
    0800 1300169 or by email at queries@arrowglobal.net.

  • My partner received a letter from this UK search debt collectors for orange mobile. He has never had an orange contract nor a pay as you go. He called them to dispute this. Their answer was for him to contact police for a crime reference number. As i am in this line of work i know that they can not help so i told him to call them back up and say he has spoken to the police and said they cannot help with anything over 5 years ago. So he called this company told them what i said and funny enough they told him not too worry they will wipe this debt off and wont hear anything from them. Now to me that was too easy. Before that he got a debt letter from some company asking for money to do with a 3 account. Once again my partner disputed that and we have not heard anything back in months.

I think your partner has to get their credit files and check them.

    Hi

I think the biggest problem is that you moved house at the time you changed providers.
You say you always paid by direct debit to Orange but when the contract is cancelled (the time you changed to you new provider with the same number) the direct debit also cancels which sometimes leaves an amount unpaid.
If Orange's debt collection department were unable to collect the amount outstanding it would have been sent to external debt collection companies to collect the amount on behalf of Orange. If they were unable to trace you or the debt still went unpaid after a period of time debt is then sold to Arrow and as such is no longer Orange's debt. The debt now belongs to Arrow and by the sounds of it they have other debt collection agencies trying to recover the money. The fact that the debt has now been sold you may well find that the debt is now more than the amount that was outstanding to Orange. You can call the collections department and ask them to tell you how much was left unpaid when your number was disconnected from the Orange network. It is worth getting the right department as the others are not trained in this area. You can also ask them to send you a statement of account which will show you them amounts in and out of the account. Unfortunately, they will not be able to give you a break down of each bill as the account has been closed for so long.

If you have problems with understanding the amount that was owed persevere ask to speak to some else. This situation doesn't arise very often. Not to say that not many people's debt gets sold, as that would not be true but many people will just call Arrow and pay. I fully understand why you may want to know more.

It sounds like its nearly 6 years ago or over 6 years ago county court cases need to be made within 6 years and this debt is just going to go away in a few months dont worry about it.If you get a letter saying they are going to send you to county court post back here.

I also have been receiving letters from Arrow Global for a debt with Orange. Except this contract owed to Orange, was opened in London! I have never lived in London, in fact I live in scotland. Who ever opened this account used my Name, old address, and date of birth in 2007. I am only just getting the letters now, and have told Arrow Global that this is not my contract, but they keep saying it's my debt. Have now checked my credit history, and have found another contract with O2 also opened in London under my name. Experian have written letters asking for these to be taken of my record, but even they haven't been able to help me. Now don't know what to do next, have tried everything expect pay for a debt that isn't mine, which I will never do! Also contacted Orange directly, and they have said they cannot help me, and sent me a letter with my address, but I have now turned into a man called Stephen! They realized their mistake, and said I would receive another letter, I'm still waiting 2 months later. Do not take a contract out with Orange, they are a waste of time, and are not interested in your complaints. Infact this whole thing has put me off getting a contract phone in the future. If anyone can give me with some advice on what my next step should be, I would be most grateful.
