Thanks for the reassurance. - off to the bank on Monday for some nice crispy 50's!I really really would NOT give a teenager crisp £50 notes - for several reasons!
They aren't accepted in all stores.
If he loses one, it's all gone: if it's in £20s and £10s then he can stash them in different pockets and hopefully only lose one at a time.
If he knows he only wants to spend £20, he can take out what he needs (maybe with a spare tenner) rather than a £50.
But actually, what I'd be wanting to do is make sure he had a bank account with a debit card, mine have been with NatWest since the age of 11, and it's much easier to send them off with that rather than with hard cash in their pockets!
By all means get some crispy notes, but not £50 ones!
They are good points but I remember getting my first £50 a couple of years ago (I'm 24 :rotfl:) and being so pleased to have a £50 note! I actually took it to show my family - who admired it! I still love getting £50s today and always keep them as long as I can! I would have been over the moon to have one when I was 13! If he is planning on spending the money in high street games and clothes shops I wouldn't worry about them not accepting them, they will be used to them anyway.0
