That's okay - it took me a while to work it out too lol:rotfl:Dear Lord,

Grattan/freeman are not a registered charity and you can be sure that they wouldn't honour these at a loss.
Afraid not, as an area manager who works for a manufacturerv(not in the phone industry) and calls on the retail distributors, margins are not that big.
And I will say again, if they are, then people see potential for undercutting them and making a profit.
Also, as a sideline I buy and sell phones and if there was this much margin to be had, I'd order a container straight from the manufacturer.0 -
This gets better and better. Bought a £20 top up from my local coop who were selling them with 25% off so cost me £15. Topped up my old O2 sim card first then used the information in this thread Up to £50 free credit for existing O2 payg users using my new telephone number from my bargain phone and got another £15 credit! I am an existing O2 customer so will just swap my swim cards so phone cost me £79.99 and £15 worth of free credit. This really is the moneysaving forum :j :j :j0

No I won't, I know very well, what retail margins are.
Also, R&D costs are high plus marketing. You don't take a phone that you are selling for £200 which is for sale at the very cheapest of £150 and make a profit.
At the average selling price on this "offer" after discounts and Quidco of about £90 plus the cost of interest free credit for some of the buyers, it is not a profitable exercise for Grattan/Freemans.
Anyone who thinks that this is not a loss leader and that they're still making loads of money is either naive or kidding thenselves.0 -

Yay, I did the upgrade thing too and got £15 extra credit as well.
The savings all add up to quite a deal:jDear Lord,
