Pedestrians in the street

Then again, I'm hearing you saying, "I'm a cyclist and I've a right to be on the road. You're a pedestrian and don't!" Any difference?
Highway code rules for pedestrians: "Pavements (including any path along the side of a road) should be used if provided." http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/DG_070108
Highway code for cyclists: "You MUST NOT cycle on a pavement." http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/DG_069837

Yep, its illegal to cycle on the pavement, but pedestrians can wander wherever they like (except motorways). Still a rather stupid thing to do.Highway code rules for pedestrians: "Pavements (including any path along the side of a road) should be used if provided." http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/DG_070108

Taking a photo of them might be the answer. They wouldn't like that.0

I sometimes experience the teenager that deliberately walks into the road to cross right in front of me, looking me right in the eye, and they often have a most malevolent expression on their face. May be something to do with proving they are stronger than you I suppose, but they don't realise that it says what pr**ts they are.
One day they'll do that to the person that's at the end of their tether that will just drop a cog.0 -

Can't see that at work - is it the Brazilian cyclists video? :rotfl:0

Some other (or possibly the same?) guy "having fun" by scaring pedestrians with his train horn...

I really hope there's a law against this sort of thing in the UK (I'm sure I'd have an accident in my trousers if someone did that to me!).0 -
It's the ....I've got as much right to be on the road as you" attitude, despite the fact they are pedestrians. Not sure what they're trying to prove though.

I'm so glad other people experience this as well, thought it was just me! Its happened to me several times and I've had to perform an emergency stop, they look at you as if they can't believe a car driver should actually be driving down the road! All it takes is a driver to not be paying complete attention (changing a CD etc) and they could be killed (this will naturally be the driver's complete fault of course!!):heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Pretty simple difference.
I cycle sometimes so agree with you, but.........have a look at this

Right in the middle you can see give way lines painted on the pavement for cyclists.
It's not a cycle path, nor is it seperated from pedestrians by markings.
The give way markings clearly indicate that cyclists should be using the pavement. I appreciate they're for cyclists to avoid the roundabout but the roadmarkings tell the cyclists to use the pavement, where there is no cyclepath or segregated pavement.
