Looks like Shell have just rebranded Optimax. I used Optimax over a period of time, many years ago, but there was no discernable difference either with performance or mpg. I think its also supposed to clean your engine and stop the build up of deposits which protects your engine parts and improves power, performance, and fuel economy. I'm not convinced though. How many people are driving around in F1 cars?

I would'nt mind betting i could still leave a porsche 911 a dot in the distance, though :rotfl:

    in what way though Kilty?

My presumption is that it has extra addatives etc

It's not worth the 9p per litre increase imo

Cars are fast becoming seriously expensive to fill. Why would you put a further drain on your pocket

It is a gas to liquids fuel. Quite a bit different, but I hear the advantage is if you have a smokey or high emissions diesel, take a few tanks of that before MOT and it will lower the emissions readings.

The UK shell site is poor. The real statement on other sites is

Shell V-Power Diesel is the first and only performance fuel to incorporate the revolutionary gas-to-liquid (GTL) technology. Synthesised from natural gas - with outstanding ignition quality and exceptional purity for cleaner, efficient combustion – Shell has been a leader in the development of this special fuel component. GTL products are colourless, odourless and virtually free of sulphur.

The USA uses a ron that is far lower than ours, yet their high performance vehicles run just fine

Their ron rating is on a different scale from ours. 87 ron US is equivalent to about 94 ron UK.

Even those sites only comment on the cleaners though.
None of them say the fuel is GTL, or if a percentage is. They seem to imply it's the cleaning additive which is.
V power certainly smells like diesel if you get it over your hands.

Think you'll be able to spot the MSE'ers sniffing diesel pumps tomorrow?

I drive a diesel it's a 2L Audi auto doesn't make a difference what fuel I put in it's blooming fast and it does great MPG I don't pay for my own fuel but I don't waste company money either so I would just put the standard diesel in as usual, you don't have to be sold to just say NO!
