For me it's been paying off a huge chunk of debt despite a much decreased income. Can't say I've enjoyed it although I'm proud of rising to the challenge clearing out rooms and getting up to 4 foreign students at a time in order to make ends meet. My small collection of cookery books from victorian years thro the 20's and 30's has come in very useful in finding recipes to feed 7 or 8 economically. The fun part has been trying out the puddings as I have to provide 2 courses at dinner. I feel like a landlady out of Dickens or Trollope!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Looking forward to finishing all this and getting back to just the family at meals.:T

    My achievements this year:

    - Finding this great site and taking onboard some fantastic advice
    - Cutting down on my excessive spending
    - Keeping a spreadsheet of my debts. Its always good to see how they reduce on a monthly basis

    :)

I'm looking forward to 2007 being my last debt free year. :j
  • I think my major achievemnets this year have been repairing my credit rating enought to get a flexible daily interest mortgage to replace the 2 secured loans at stupid interest rates. The interest rate wasn't the most competitive (the lowest interest rates still won't touch me) but its at least sensible (currently 7.9% after the recent rise). It allows overpayments & luckily I've been able to overpay quite a bit as thats now my highest rate APR.

I've also got my unsecured debts down enough to squeeze them onto a single 0% cc & I have some lump sums coming early next year that will pay the majority of the remaining balance of that by Easter next year.

  • My biggest achievement this year was finding this site, lurking for a while and finally joining in.

I have cleared just over 11% of my debt and I have 2 more paydays in 2006 so I'm hopeful for a slightly higher percentage to finish the year.

I have joined Quidco and Pigsback, have slashed my grocery bills and raised funds through eBay/Amazon selling and matched betting.

I owe a huge thank you to Moozie, Lynsayjane and lots of other ladies who visit my diary and give me kicks up the backside or hugs as appropriate (or just gossip which is fine by me). And to SS, Jessica, Dan29 and Misskool from the dark side for lots of patience and encouragement.

I'm glad I found you guys, now who's for a group hug :grouphug: :D

Thanks Kev for my little mention :A

I think my greatest achievement this year is not having a mental breakdown and managing somehow to come through everything that has happened. I have also cleared over £6,000 worth of debt this year which is easy to forget as I did that in the first half of the year.

I found this site nearly a year ago now and I am sooo glad I did. Everybody on this site (and in particular all us DFW's) is just so friendly and supportive. It is a great place to come to when you have got good news, bad news or simply need a chat or a shoulder to cry on.

Thank you to everyone who is reading this and here's to a fabulous 2007

  • 2006 has been a weird old year. I have moved out of the squalid hole we were living in, into a lovely 2 bed flat with my OH. We (well I, OH doesnt have a choice) have grabbed the MSE bull by the horns are are running with it!

At my LBM in august, I thought I would be paying my debts off for the next 10 years, would have no life until then, and was generally fed up. I told all to my OH who didnt quite know the extent of my problems, and we started sorting stuff out!

A few months on I havent used my CC, everything is paid cash, I have a DMP with CCCS after ditching the robbers baines and ernst. I still do nice things all the time, and have realised that not everything costs money!

Now I am aiming with a little help from the OH to be debt free in the next 3 years!!! I see that I do actually have a future that is rosy, instead of the dark ten years that i envisaged!!

Thanks to everyone here who inspires me everyday.

Special thanks to squirreltufty and TNG on the stop smoking thread, I know that sooner or later even though I keep failing, I will be smoke free too. you guys have been great :j
Proud to be dealing with my debts
