Great minds think alike! On the way to work this morning I was thinking of starting a thread like this, now you've beaten me to it:p
I was thinking how my spending pattern has really changed this year, I only use my debt card or cash now, and it has made me really think about the true cost and whether I can get the item cheaper elsewhere, I'm not even remotely tempted to go out for the big Christmas spend, I for one will raise a glass to myself on New Years Eve to congratulate me on my achievements with regard to money this year:beer:

Great thread, inspiring reading!
I've only been here a short while but it's made a difference to me. The most surprising to me is that I get paid on Friday but still have money left!? Even though I've paid double to my credit card and bought a few Christmas presents. Looking at my bank statement I've managed on about £25 cash since the start of the month, usually there are £10's dotted everywhere on my bank statement! I have never been so determined to pay off debt so thanks for that

Excellent thread.
My greatest achievement this year has to be removing my head from the sandpit it has been happily living in for far too long. I've pretty much completed my Christmas shopping and paid for it all - no credit cards here these days :T and I feel so much better knowing I won't be getting any nasty bills in January.
I've had loads of help and advice from so many on here and thanks to you all.

2006 for me has gone accordingly to what I planned, enjoying my 2nd year of early retirement, mortgage paid off in July, changed my caravan for a new one without having to borrow and next month looking forward to my 3 weeks holiday in Mauritius. to cap it all despite my age I been told that I am still needed by the Army.Yung

For me it's got to be my LBM in September - I'm so glad that I got it now and not several more years down the line! I've bought all my Xmas presents without touching the credit card for the first time in years; I'm moving this weekend, and all the additional expenses are budgetted for.
The best thing for me is actually feeling in control of my money - I know what I have available to spend, rather than checking the balance a week before pay day to find there's no money left!
I can't even start to list people who have helped & inspired me, cos the list would get sooo long & I'd be bound to forget someone! You've all been great and I feel I've learned so much from you all in the last couple of months (oh dear, getting emotional...)

Well done to everyone for all your fantastic achievements in 2006 :T
This year has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride for us, in Feb we were advised to go bankrupt but managed to scrape together £85 a month for a dmp with a dfd of 2037. Over the year we have managed to make heaps of savings on our SOA, increase our income & paid off 3 creditors in addition to our dmp payments which has meant that this month we have been able to come off our dmp & now have a dfd of 2009 :j
We started the year in crisis but feel like we are now in control, we have a lot more to do but can see a future ahead, thank you to each & everyone of you who post, you are all wonderful people :Awaiting for my 1st competition win...

Wey hey what good achievements!
After Xmas I will have paid off all my smaller debts and will just be left with student loan. This is a massive achievement as I am still a part time MA student who started the year earning just a little over £600 and living in London. I am going to start saving a monthly amount after a year half of this will take a chunk off the loan.
The best things I have done this year are learning about Quidco, ebay etc - how to have the things I want but on a really tight budget. I have spent just over £40 cash on £200 worth of Xmas pressies so really chuffed with that.
I have got a pay rise in work and have been doing really well there so I'm really happy. Next year I am going to fully master matched betting. I started learning when Southern Scouser was and he has nearly a grand profit alreay!
And also looking forward to finishing my MA and getting a full time job - I'll be rich, lol.:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0
