Seen as though some people are looking forward to 2007 with a new set of challenges i thought id post the obligatory thread of 2006 accomplishments (and yes there is a month and a bit to go so no slacking
)
For me 2006 has been a great year, lots to be proud of, money wise id have to say clearing off my last cc was the best moment as im down to a loan now, and its not a great amount a month, and it also means i dont have to worry too much about being unemployed
Also ive gained other things in my life which I know are far more important than money
Also id just like to say a few congrats to the regulars on here, if i miss you out dont worry, im tired lol
Southern Scouser - Not really talked to you much, but your great first time posters post is really useful, and also your wit, and general lusting over any female sounding poster is amusing
Lynzpower - For me dfw poster of the year, i was posting a lot of information when i first started, and helped a few people via pm, but after a while, time was taken away from me but luckily though her great advice and the sheer volume of it meant i didnt have to think can i help, someone else is doing it lol
Always posts with compassion, was quite chuffed when she said i inspired her earlier this week
Postingalwaysposting - a) because i love your avatar, and b) after lots of nagging you finally came around, cleared the debts and you now sound so positive about your future, only 2 months ish but a great success story
I am really glad I helped you, which is what i love doing, helping people.
Amosworks - Sometimes really rude, but always lively and intelligent, you will be a millionaire one day
ehallett - a very brave girl, some great initiative, your story has touched litterally hundreds of people, and given a lot of hope to us all
finally
Jamiedodger, you inspire me every day, your common sense and intelligence stop me from going completely insane, and your drive and passion for TDM make everything so much easier. I love you loads, and that will never change
If ive not mentioned you, thats because there are soo many cool people on here, and i have a very bad memory, but you are huge parts of a great community, keep posting im sure someone will say how great you are
Thankyou all for the support you have given me, and indeed putting up with my rants
Kev

good post kev...i'm gonna take second post on the wagon!
this year i guess my biggest achievement was having my lbm in august. since then i've gotten a new job, cleared my only interest paying debt and made a tight, but doable budget and stuck to it mostly. i've even managed to buy myself treats (ie clothes and shoes) without credit or panic. i've also recently started te court stage of claiming back my bank charges which will clear half of my biggest debt!
my first thanks go to someone who i don't think will see them, but i'll tell him when i get my bank charges refunded.
mcbirnie you are a total star, there are no words to thank you for all the help and encouragement youve given me since i joined here, from reading through all the scottish law side of court claims to employment advice and even love life advice (don't worry you're still number one
). but will you hurry up and get your net fixed so i can bug you some more!
minnie spender, you have been a really good friend, giving me good advice on all matters money related and not. i hope you've found the happiness you deserve.
mrs s for all the encouragement and giggles, if little tom is half as wonderful as you are you'll be a very proud and lucky mother.
moozie for your 'how much' threads, you make me feel guilty for every penny
and everyone who has given me help advice and encouragement. this thread is so full of amazing people who, despite struggling themselves, are so quick to reach out and help others it brings me to tears. who says there is no selfless love left in the world.
i wish you all the very best for the remaining six weeks or so of 2006 and hope all your debt free dreams come true in 2007.

Hehe,
Well congrats Kevicho on your success this year. I too am looking forward to 2007 and it will be a good year also.
2006 is the year I left behind all my debt, my fears and my money worries and finally played the system to get the upper hand over evil creditors.
Woo yay to MSE0 -
Yes for once I'm not afraid to look forward as the there is a future. Despite allowing myself very little cash to live on 2006 has been one of the best years ever.
I think everyone on here is great but I remember miss londons planning, saving and going to OZ the most as it shows whats out there.Barclaycard 3800

My achievements - clearing my debts this year (all bar my student loan) so i could return to uni to do my MA to further my career. So much easier not having to worry about meeting minimum repayments with very little cash - I may even be able to get away without working during my course so I can concentrate fully on it (will work in summer though!). Reclaiming my bank and cc charges after taking a good few months to pluck up the courage to do it.
Helping my mum finally start to sort herself out - she's still got a way to go but she is so much happier and finds she's got a lot more money at the end of the month and all bills are paid and she's paying her debts too (not as quickly as she could but she's doing what is right for her). We're battling Abbey together to get her charges back too.
I'd like to say thanks to SS for being a laugh and always 'contributing' no matter how small.
Ms_London for being incredibly inspiring and showing us how it's really done.
elantan for generally being so lovely and supportive to people...
and there are so many others on here - you're all so inspiring (and I hope I am too!)

ooooh thanks Kev

I Personally think this has been one of - if not THE toughest yearsfor me ever, what with illness, debt and insecurity round every turn. how Ive managed to keep afloat Ill never know, but the support UIIve had here, and in the flylady challenge on Old Style- they have officially kept me going. Emotionally thing have been tough at times but I am so chuffed Ive been able to stay afloat. Being supported here, paying my debts off at the rate i have despite being effectively on nil income, is testament to what ive learned from everyone else. For 2007, I want a permanent job that I like, a nice rented flat with our dog with us, and being debt free. Im also wanting life to be filled with fun. I will make this happen.
I dont have an "most inspiring poster" but anyone who perseveres in the fight against illness taking their liberty from them gets a big one of these :T
Your all stars and you know it
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
My achievements are securing a second job, which i love, clearing my smaller debts (O2, my mum, etc), moving in with my OH and staying afloat without getting into any more debt... next year though, we intend to have cleared both our credit cards (mine 450, his 700 - has car insurance on) by April / May, and I intend to do a final settlement on my First Direct Loan around June time.
You've all inspired me, each and every one of you. I've took so many tips from this site! Moozie's daily thread keeps me on the straight and narrow, and all of you matched betters have made my head ache (i've read through the info so many times! it doesn't sink it! AQA it is!) x0 -
LOL! Never really converesed with SS, he seems far too witty. But I do laugh at his constant innuendo and double entendre with the female community!Kevicho wrote:

I completely agree top woman. Wish we could help more than I'm sure we already do.Kevicho wrote:

Our achievements in 2006 (Well the latter part of it anyway!) were..
Got married on a £2000 budget and had a great day.
Had our lightbulb moment in the middle of october
Made £400 off ebay in one week
Found freecycle
Paid off Rockwell, Dell finance and Capital one just a month after having our lightbulb moment, and are well on the way to paying off blackhorse... which equates to £1355 worth of debt paid off in just over a month  even though we've been struggling for money!
Feeling more in control of our situation and positive about the future...
Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
Que sera, sera.
