is it better to continuously reduce your credit limit on your cc's so it doesnt look like you have a lot of credit attached to you if you wanna apply for a new cc?

Depends whether you have too much credit.
This will vary by lender adn will depend on your income.
You need to give more detailed amounts if you want advice/opinions.

If Barclays do offer something akin to Egg Money (i.e. with cashback) I wonder if they will distinguish between long-standing Egg Money customers (who joined early on and so pay no monthly fee) and newer customers who pay £1 a month? Although as long as you make more than £12 a year cashback it obviously makes sense to pay £1 a month for the product, I would have reservations about a fee paying credit card when there are so many to choose from who charge no fees.

If they just push me onto a Barclaycard then they can stuff themselves. I hope they honour the few months of cashback that is accruing on my Egg Money card for this year too.

If they don't pay out cashback already earned, they will receive an absolute deluge of complainants, who will go all the way to the Ombusman.

Obviously they can stop it for future purchases, but any attempt to retrospectively remove rebate already earned under existing terms would almost certainly be ruled unfair and therefore illegal.

  • I agree, I doubt Barclaycard will retrospectively take back any cashback earned.

Going forwads if they remove the 1% cashback reward I will join the many who leave Barclaycard. I actually switched from Barclaycard to Egg for the cashback!

What a shame that Barclaycard seem to be hoovering up so many credit card assets over the last few years :(

Section 13 of the T&Cs (and section 20 referenced within) covers this issue.

I also saw my cash back reset and not be credited to the account in a statement dated 13/03.

I messaged online about it and got a prompt reply saying the cash back would be credited and showing online by tomorrow.
  • My cashback has been credited this morning.

    £89.96 paid here.

Just waiting for the update in the next month to say cash back is no longer available. I'm not expecting anything for next year.
