When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:T

Morning  and happy weekend :T I'm working today but am not disappointed as I love my job (weird I gave myself until April to love it again or get out and here I am! :D), I'll get loads done as its always quiet on a Saturday, it seems like the days gonna brighten up, & I get to go in casge so I can wear my new red pumps! :p

This weekend I intend to:
  • stick to no dairy diet - its been manageable so far....
  • [STRIKE]soup for lunch, fruit for snacks[/STRIKE]
  • check for surveys - unlikely but hey ho
  • [STRIKE]hang out some washing on the line b4 I leave[/STRIKE], get oh to hand out the load in the WM @ 30 ;)
  • make some bread
  • [STRIKE]go to body pump tomorrow[/STRIKE] (and not let membership idle away ;))
  • [STRIKE]free porridge at work[/STRIKE] - its almost been used up but it was good for a while ;)made with water, a smidge of soya milk and a spoon of sugar - trying to ween myself off and that's loads less :) - and it was really yummy
  • take top back for refund before its too late
  • take B&Q stuff back for a refund
  • [STRIKE]put up curtain track....[/STRIKE]
  • [STRIKE]get meat out of freezer for roast tomorrow[/STRIKE] mmmmmmm
  • make a cake to use up butter that needs using & make most of the oven being on tomorrow ;)
  • check thru fridge to see what needs using up pronto!
  • plant some seeds
  • [STRIKE]park a 2 min walk away from work rather than driving 2 miles each way round the one way system[/STRIKE] ;)
phew what a list! Enjoy ur day x

    Good morning everyone

    Today i will:

    make a shopping list
washing on quick wash- snow here today so will have to dry in house
do a budget- payday on Tues want to try and pay as much to challenge nearly debt free
    check banking

Might go into town with DD1 more spends though but she needs new underwear.

can't think of much else have a good weekend everyone.
  • Good morning everyone, and thanks to DNMS for starting us off today. We had a fantastic evening out but I now have a delicate tum this morning so a chilled out day is on the cards.

    List so far:
    • checked banking
    • checked for surveys
    • fed and watered chickens
    I will also:
    • phone WTC regarding odd payments
    • send DH to get some shopping so he pays :D
    • start sorting the garden to make room to grow salad stuff - everything else goes in the allotment
    • spend some time in the sewing room
Do you know something? I really can't be bothered today! I think I might just phone HRMC then crawl back into bed ;)
    Making magic with fabric

Morning everyone. Arrived home to find a Parking Charge Notice waiting for me, but having done some research it seems that I should be safe to ignore it. Thank heaven for this website!

Had a lovely meal out with DW last night. DD babysat for the younger ones. Tbh I think she prefers us out of the way anyway so she can have her friends round without worrying about us old fogeys :-)

Some of you may recall that DW had her card cloned and her account cleared out a week or two ago. Well the money is back in her account now so she paid for the meal, so it was a NSD for me.

Today is cloudy but dry so I'll probably risk washing out on the line
Make shopping list (meant to do this yesterday, but we were both so hungry when I got home from work that we pretty much went straight out)
Main shop at Aldi, then top up at Sainsburys only with what I can't get at Aldi
Return library books before I get fined (due day is today)
Get passport renewal forms (not very DFW but we haven't had a holiday for 3 years and really need one)
Shower using toiletries brought back from recent hotel stays
Tea and coffee that I brought back from hotel too
Check what films are on at Empire Jnrs this weekend (£1 to get in), and if suitable, I'll buy popcorn and drinks at the supermarket so I don't have to pay cinema prices
    .
Go swimming if we aren't going to the pictures
    Check online banking
    Surveys

    Have a great weekend
Debt free since December 2015. It can be done

No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T

    Hi everyone

I just need to sit here for a wee half hour. Josie I feel your pain :o too many rum and cokes for me :p at home though so was only £1.59 on a bottle of coke (we don't have fizzy drinks in as a rule!) :T Had a lovely night too.

    Today:
    • Go a walk with OH to collect parcel from depot - about 3 or 4 miles
    • Flyer for OH's martial arts club
    • OH buying the coffees when we have a break from ^ :)
    • News online
    • Do my own nails
    • Got 6 silicone cupcake moulds for 99p :T Mag had sold out in town but local shop had 1 left
    • Bit of knitting later - update Ravelry site
    • Staying in tonight
    • SC chicken
    • Tidy round
    • Shift some money about
Tomorrow I plan on painting the doors and skirting boards in the hall and then off to OH's parents for tea. Getting picked up but need to get a taxi back so about £14 needed for that.

Other weekend things I always try to do:
    • Free weekend calls to mum/sis
    • Sort clothes/lunches for work next week
    • Bit of reading
    • Take out recycling
    • Clear out/sort out/organise/prepare for putting the flat on the market at some point soon
    Have a lovely time Catmiaow!

    Happy weekend, all!

After feeling much better yesterday I now feel absolutely rubbish again. Barely slept at night as I couldn't breathe through my nose. Bleh!

    Today I:
    • May see a friend for lunch. I really dont want to cancel but I'll have to see how Im feeling closer to the time
    • If I go, I'll bundle up and walk 40 minutes each way as the fresh air will do me good
    • keep crocheting - at this rate I wont have the pillow cases done in time for the wedding but I hope to have finished the bedspread
    • hang washing
    • mealplan as have been lazy and havent yet
    • dinner from plan (whatever that is!)

Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far.
