  • Just to let you know that imo you do your son no favours by keeping him out of this. I have just worked out what budgeting, money and debts really mean (well, 5 months ago). This is because despite what I now know to be fairly awful financial states, my parents hid it from me and carried on spending the way they always had. If i'd learned more, i might not have been in this position now.

    He's going to uni, if you take him into your confidence now he may avoid the financial mistakes that you have made, I wish my parens had taught me this, and my little girl (4 months) will grow up with a good grasp of finances and how to live a df life, if thats what she wants.

    Hi guys

    Thanks for your input. I agree the tips ive had on here are great and im implementing them now. As far as my sons concerned, i totally understand where you are comming from but luckily hes very savy with money. Seems to be his nature. Hes never really known me to be ovely extravigant, it wasnt an obvious thing so , and i have to say, especially now as the penny pinching is firmly in place he definatley understands the value of money.
