As far as I can see they (MBNA) have fullfilled their side of the deal.

Are you a new customer or was this one of the promotions offered to existing customers?

MBNA do not tell you they agree a money transfer they simply action it on your request.

MBNA issue a statatement on the due date. If they have initiated the money transfer during that statement period it will be on that statement.

Why had you not seen a statement in paper form or on line?
    Obviously a statement was issued.

You are approaching this the wrong way.

If your objective is to reinstate your promotional money transfer rate then the standard advice would be to call them and explain calmly that you made an error in paying late due to the fact that you didn't receive a statement apologise say it won't happen again as you will set up a direct debit to make future payments and ask, considering the above, if they would they be kind enough to reinstate your promotional rate.

noh I don't think you get it. I had an account with MBNA which was dormant for a long time and in credit with a small amount of money about £10 - £12. I was caught on a job, bad payer, and applied for the 0% money transfer to tide me over for I think it was 9 months. I went online one day and saw that the money had been transferred which I was pleased about. Two weeks later I went online on the Saturday and saw that the MBNA had issued a statement this was asking for £25 due on the same day. I had not expected that as the money had been transferred just 15 days before. I transferred £50 there and then. Having done that I rang MBNA cap in hand explaining what had happened and I felt that it was a bit harsh as the MBNA representative said that I was in breach of the agreement. I said that I had not seen a statement and she said that she would send a duplicate. She went on to say that they would not charge me the £12 fee but now I would be charged interest and still have to pay the arrangement fee. I took it on the chin and went on with my life when I received the statement and studied the situation it showed that it had been issued before I had received the money so I went back to them explaining that I had paid a fee which was for the whole thing what I mean is I wanted the money in my account for a start. However they used the rules so I let it go. It occurred to me later that I had done the best I could and why should I be bound by rules when I hadn't even received what I asked for. I went back to them once again cap in hand explaining that as soon as I was aware of the situatiion I addressed it. Once again they used the rules. The good news is other people might learn from this.

Yes that will of course prove that the payment was not in time for the deadline.
The deadline for a payment due on a Saturday being 4pm on the previous working day.

clearly you're missing the point; he did not intentionally default and he alleges the terms where not clear.

Regardless of the outcome, considering the penalties they are levying, he has absolutely no reason not to try complaining and/or ombudsman

Got the point Joe_Bloggs the clues are there.

    MBNA Europe Bank Limited

Then why don't they accept payments directly? Isn't that what a proper Bank would do?

Why is their receiving account with Co-op? Why would they pay someone else if they operate as a Bank!

Perhaps it's because they don't. They're a provider of Credit Cards and Credit Card facilities solely.

No I am not missing the point.
The terms relating to the payment timescales are clear there is no doubt about that.
Whether or not the late payment was intentional the fact remains it was late.

I agree he should complain but only after trying the course of action I outlined above ie ask nicely first.

No it seems it is you who don't get it.
It is you who made the mistake.
You were an existing customer. The payment timescales and deadlines are on the back of every statement you have ever received.
They are also on the web site in the FAQ section.

As an existing customer you would also be aware of when your statement date is.

    You received the money transfer?
If so I don't understand your comment.

Good Morning noh You are right. The bank issue statements and I decide whether I accept the terms and conditions. Unfortunately the bank issued a statement on the 14th of the month showing a debt owing. I never actually received the money until the 16th of the month. Then the bank say Ah! it was in process and I say what process and they say Bacs and I say what is Bacs and they say we process it on the 1st day but you don't get the money till the 3rd day so I say so you knew I hadn't had the money when you issued the statement and they don't say anything. Then it goes on and on and on. So noh you are right banks have rules. That is where my first post started about the rules on FPS because I made a payment on the 1st day and it was in the bank on the 3rd day but it seems that what is good for the goose is not good for the gander.
