O2 How to give notice for cancelling
Hi,
Very sorry for this I am sure this question must have been asked before but I can find the right thread anyway..
My O2 contract is going to expire in next 30 days.
How do I go about giving them 30 days cancellation notice.
Is there a number I should ring/fax the notice too.
regards

if your with o2 through o2 at cpw give them a call on 0870 111 7200, they will more than likely put you through to the loyalty dept to try and retain your custom, if you decline this they will give you the address to write into or tell you how to get your PAC code,
not sure what the number is for o2 direct but it will be on their website or some kind soul will tell you in another post on here
just a piece of advice if you write in do it by registered post and retain the stub, this is your proof of postage of the date you sent the letter for cancellation0 -
Call the freephonr number for CPW: 0800 04900490

Any specific wording I need to use for it?
If not than I will send in my notice to cancel.
I still have some time, as my 12 month would exp on 03 Jan 08

Yeah just say you want to cancel, want a PAC code which means you keep your old number.0

I'm not sure if you can upgrade unless you are in your last month. Effectively, asking for 50 minutes for free sounds like an upgrade request.
Do what ashmufc said. If you tell them that you want to cancel, you may get put through to retentions department. Ask them will they offer you anything to stay? If you are not happy, then say you want to think about it and hang up. You could try ringing them up again, hopefully getting another operator offering you a better deal. Don't always accept the first offer, try and haggle for more. If no deals take your fancy, write to cancel stating that you want your number to be transferred to a PAYG sim after the minimum term (to keep your number) in the letter. If you request your PAC it is only valid for 30 days, so you can request this closer to the end date of your contract by calling customer services. The contract account must be active for the PAC and your number to be successful in the transfer. Therefore by getting your number onto a PAYG sim you will still have your number and you won't need your contract account to be active as it should be closed.* They will probably phone you up after they have received your letter of disconnection and maybe ring you up with another offer?
*One note of caution here that I have seen someone wrote on this forum, that when they requested their number to be transferred to a PAYG sim after their contract had finished, they were still billed a month's line rental as they didn't use/register the sim card. My advice is to register the sim card, if your using this as a temporarily location before you port onto another network. Once your ready to leave the network request your PAC and get them to close the PAYG sim card after the PAC is used. I think that when you use a PAC for an account, the account will be automatically closed anyway (but just to be on the safe side).0 -
