    Hi,
Please try not to over react. It could just be a big bleed. Take a HPT, if you were pregnant it will come up + the hormones tend to hang around for a week after you miscarry so should be easy to pick up today.
    Good luck!!

I would echo this. Also do a pregnancy test. If you were pregnant, the hormones will still be in your system and you may be able to confirm what has happened.

I had a m/c at about 5 weeks in April 2009 and didn't know I was pregnant. Worse things have happened to me since.

    All the very best.

Im so sorry for what you are going through. It does sound as if you have miscarried. I miscarried my 2nd pregnancy and had a similar experience to what you describe. If you stop bleeding suddenly over the weekend and get cramps go to hospital and A&E will refer you to gynae. I didn't go early enough and things got complicated.

I dont know how to word this so as not to worry or upset you further. I hope things go smoothly for you over the next few days and that your gp can give you some answers and support.

Is there anyone who can come over and be there for you. It is an awful experience to go through. Thinking of you

Echo what others have said you need to see a doctor today. If for nothing else but to reassure you that everything is as it should be.

Yes I told the receptionist what had happened, and she said something similar had happened to her.

I also think the receptionist needs reminding that she hasn't had medical training!

I called ours a glorified telephone answerer one time when they pee'd me off hugely.. and I put in an official complaint about her.

I found the pg tests were -ve before I started bleeding so a test would not be a good indicator.. if it did come up +ve it could be you were expecting 2 and just 1 came away I have had that on 2 occasions.. you really need a referral to EPU and a scan to make sure.. they will be able to tell by the size and shape of the uterus whether you were pregnant or not and whther you still are or not.

Pigpen is right, you need to be seen by th EPU and have a scan. What you describe sounds like a miscarriage - I've just had my second so it's all too fresh in my mind. My EPU never wants to see anything that has come out, even with my first when they found nothing on the first scan and kept insisting I might not have been pregnant (I knew I was), so I'm not sure all sonographers can tell if you were pregnant, but I have a tilted womb which may make it harder (I have to have vaginal scans early on).

Anyway, you need a scan to check if it was a mc, and if it is complete. Anything left inside can cause infection. one of hte main symptoms of this is more pain and a nasty smelling discharge, so keep an eye out.

insist the receptionist lets you speak to a GP, and tell them you want a referral to the EPU.

I have been told by my EPU that the pregnancy hormone will take 2 weeks to come out of my system. I'm not sure if doing a test would be helpful to you or not, but the hormone doesn;t drop immediately so a test might tell you something.

It is one hell of a shock, and a loss you need to grieve, too. There are miscarriage support organisations (maybe search online) and there is also a thread on here somewhere.

I think the main thing is to get checked out medically, and try and find some support. And be warned, if your EPU is anything like ours (Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading) each appointment will take 2 hours and be mostly waiting around.

    Huge hugs.

A grey mass with heavier bleeding can also be just a large chunk of uterine lining. The longer break between periods can lead to build up. It looks unlike anything you will have with a normal period and can be a right shock. Because the material is thicker (almost squid like) it can be a shock and is harder to pass, so leads to stronger contraction-like period pain.
    Try not to panic.
