I'm in shock!!

  • Yes I told the receptionist what had happened, and she said something similar had happened to her. I didn't want to push for an emergency appointment as I don't feel ill, just numb.

I didn't miss any of my pills, but I did take one late- not past the 12 hours though.

This week past week has been so hectic with my friends baby being born prem and all the emotions from that and today. I have told the dad, but he is away during the week. He is home tomorrow and I think that will help.

I will speak to my head of year at uni on Monday as well, and see what support they can provide.

I know you are in shock but this is serious you need to be seen by a doctor TODAY.

The chances are everything will be fine, many women have early mc's without even realising it, they think it's just an unusually heavy period but the fact you are on the pill and haven't missed taking it recently means you might have been a bit further on or that it wasn't a mc at all and you have an infection of some kind.

Please go to A&E or insist on seeing your own GP today ((((((hugs)))))
  • Thanks ftf, I do have 3 children already with ex, and have recently started to think I might like 1 more- when I get my degree. Deep down I know with the situation with my ex, uni and my new relationship now would not have been a good time to have a baby- and in all honesty I would not have planned to have one now. But in the space of 24 hours Ive gone from thinking I would like one in the future to thinking I may have been carrying one without knowing.

I am going to try and get hold of my friend to take me up to A&E later when she goes up to see her little girl.

  • I would definitely go and see a doc or nurse. When I miscarried at 11+5 it didn't all 'come out' in one go, and I had to keep having ultrasounds to see if my womb was empty. It's because anything left in there poses a risk of infection. Far better to be sure. I went to A&E with bleeding, as I knew I was pregnant, and panicked. They gave me an appointment for the early pregnancy unit. I agree with others, Tuesday is too long to wait to be seen.

Miscarriage is a very emotional experience, whether you know you're pregnant or not, so take care of yourself and try and speak to someone about how you are feeling. If you need to cry, cry. It is a loss whether you knew you were pregnant or not xxxxxxx

I echo mrs spendalot, i had a similar situation as thirteen weeks, and it didnt pass from my womb very well.
    Lots of hugs xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Call back and explain that you are in a bit of shock, and you didn't ask earlier, but could you please have an emergency appointment today.

I had done the same as you when it happened to me, taken two pill packets back to back, and I didn't miss any either. The only thing I've ever been able to think of was that I did have an upset stomach at one point, but that's it. My Mum was the one who had the sense of mind to keep what I had 'passed' and we gave it to the doctor who sent it off to the labs to confirm that it was the embryonic sac :( But, I didn't need to have a D&C. Not everyone does.

Even if you can't get an appointment today, call back the surgery and ask for miscarriage support helplines that are local to your area. I really think you need someone supporting you today.

Feel free to PM me if you wish.

Call the Surgery again and say that you feel that you need to see someone today. There are usually appointments free and they can try and fit you in. Waiting until Tuesday is too long. I know it can be hard to insist but they should understand. Mention that you are on your own at the moment too. Will you have anyone with you over the weekend?

    Big hugs x

I understand the mixed feelings. I wasn't planning on having a child at 17 either, but knew I wanted kids in the future, so I found it very difficult to deal with the loss, knowing I wouldn't be trying for another pregnancy anytime soon.

It's perfectly understandable that you are confused and in shock, and that is why you need to see the doc and have a friend supporting you.

Oh, and like others said, they need to check you out to make sure nothing untoward is happening (other than the miscarriage). I found out, because of the miscarriage, that I have Rhesus D negative blood which is important to know for future pregnancies.

((HUGS)) I wish I was there to give you real hugs.

It does sound like a miscarriage, but get it checked out, as I had similar, and thought I'd miscarried, but hadn't. Hugs. xx
