Im just off to but the samsung le40c580 from john lewis. Its got v good reviews. Will let you know what its like if you want.
I'm liking the look of that one too. I'll have a butchers at it today. Let me know what its like when you get it home
Does anyone know any other companies that offer 5 year guarantees? I know John Lewis do them involved in the cost. Richer Sounds do them for 10% of the TV price... any others at a decent price?0 -
I have an LE40C650, similar but with an HD freeview tuner and internet@TV. Very pleased with it.That gum you like is coming back in style.0

no because not all TVs are the same even in the same line0 -

Even taking 2 tvs from the same factory doesnt mean theyre the same
usually the greyscales will differ (but again, the majority of settings would probably be the same)
Some tvs also have different panel manufacturers, this can definitely change settings
As also said, the source can make a difference (particularly sky):idea:0 -
thanks just need to find the best picture/sound settings when i get back. I am ok with tech sometimes but normally just plug and pay. determined to get the best out of this one. any suggestions?
id look on av forums for a general guide personally (if I were you that is, I actually have a sensor and software to set up)
You could really do with a THX disc to setup brightness and contrast
Sharpness should usually be switched off or minimum
Colour set so everything looks natural and skintones in particular dont look too red
Switch off all the extra cr*p thats not needed (every tvs different, but things like DNR, Contrast enhance, Black enhance etc etc). people buy tvs thinking because it has it, it should be switched on. When in fact the opposite is usually true:idea:0 -
OK, I've went into some shops today and been looking at the Panasonic TX-P42C3B. £529 in Fenwicks. They've had it in for 3 days tho. Anyone heard anything about this one? Link0

Too early for reviews and tests as yet
It is only a 768 panel so itll have to scale whatever is thrown at it
One thing I do find odd is it has 'deep colour' capabilities (Dont think ive ever seen that on a 768 panel)
You generally cant go wrong with a panasonic. But some of the later models have had bad input lag (meaning gaming isnt good, neither is plugging in an external amplifier). The generation before that had blacks that changed over time making them grey.
My point is, it is a gamble buying something new:idea:0
