Sweaty gym girl!

Options
Hello,
I go to the gym 3-4 times a week and work hard, however this also means i sweat...ALOT! I have never been overly concious of this, but of late have noticed a few funny looks.

Is it off putting to other gym users to see this?

I must add I am scrupulous about cleaning the machines before and after use and head straight for the showers post workout ;-)

  • If you can't get sweaty in a gym, then where can you? Stuff them! I'm sick of people, male and female, buying into this idea that women should be sweat-free, hairless and done up all of the time. Give yourself a break and enjoy bikini season when it comes, you will have earned it! :T

er - perhaps I am wrong - but dont people go to a gym to exercise? and that definately involves getting sweaty! I used to do Tae Kwon Do and believe me, we dripped by the time warm up was over!
have a look around you hun............are other people sweating too? or is this a fake gym where people just dress up in those outfits for fun? if they arent sweating they arent working and are fooling themselves that their hour or so in the gym is doing them good! ignore these idiots!

    Hello nerak_y

So you're a bit of a sweaty Betty?:D What do people expect in a gym?

As long as people wash and use anti-perspirant or deodorant and don't stink the place out..............what's the problem?

When I take off my trainers after playing sport, I see steam coming out of them.:o:o:o:o:o

Do you carry a hand towel around? Those small microfibre towels are easy to pack in your bag and will help to mop up the perspiration as you move from machine to machine in your gym sessions.;)

    Regards

I do too, and I have rosacea so sometimes end up beet-red into the bargain. But I figure there is absolutely no point in caring. As long as I don't smell :) that's where I draw the line.

If you aren't sweating then you're either daintily lady-like (not me!!) or you're not working hard enough!

    Thanks for your replies folks!

Yeah there isn't many 'sweaters' around me, well female anyway. I personally don't have an issue with it myself, actually if i did a workout and didn't sweat i would feel like i had slacked!!

I do have a wee towel yes which is well used hehe. And i don't smell bad, so i think you're right Meritaten, i will ignore the looks!

Thanks again....should change my username to 'Sweaty Betty' :D

i go to local gym and likewise agree you go there to sweat ,
i was a little concious as i was finding it difficult to get a deodorant that suited me ,( must be a time of life thing :o) but started using a chrystal stone from boots ( its by the deodorants ) it doesnt stop perspiring but certainly takes away that odour i was dubious as tried every deo on the market but this thing WORKS ...it costs about £6 but will last years you just rub it on after a shower to damp skin i havent looked back since ..

apparently it works on feet to but not tried it as mine are sweet as a rose ;)

    may helpsomeone

I sweat so much I am literally wringing wet! I do occasionally get an odd look but it doesn't bother me. Its usually if I have worn my pale grey trousers which tend to end up looking like I have wet myself!:p

My mum uses that crystal deoderant too Jammy Dodger, swears by it! I would need to roll on the stuff to stop me sweating, it's a whole body issue. Good thing about it is that i'm totally unaware of how sweaty my armpits may be! lol

Nike Dri-fit is the best sportswear for me, with Adidas Climalite a close 2nd. They have 'moisure wicking properties' apparently!
