3 contract phone - help please

Hi

I have a 3 mobile phone contract. Unfortunately, I lost my phone and it was missing for a month before getting a new one (I had 3rd party insurance and they replaced the phone).
I am now being chased for a bill for usage for the month I was without a phone. Is this right or should I query this with them????
Not had a contract phone before so don't know all the ins/outs etc.
Thanks

Contract is a separate matter and can be used with any other phone.

You are liable for call charges up to the time the phone was reported missing to the network and it being blocked ...if you had it blocked you should not be charged for usage ...so the question is did you report it missing and block it ???

Don't they just supply you with a new sim-card after blocking?

Yes they will have to because the original one would be in the phone that went walkies.
The OP would only be liable from when the new sim was activated .

I meant the monthly payment. I think the OP was querying the regular charges, not extra.

Ahh see what you mean ...yes if it was blocked and a sim sent out straight away then there would be no reason not to charge :o

I was thinking someone had run a bill up on the phone and the OP was being charged ...I'll get my coat ;)

The phone was reported lost to 3 and the police immediately. A new sim was not sent to me until I had a new phone a month later.
The phone was also blocked as soon as I noticed it missing

It's not their fault you lost it, so yeah, you gotta pay.

The question is why they have not sent a new sim. If it was their fault I don't see why you had to pay the full monthly fee.
  • If you lost your phone then you need to inform your network about that and block the contract. After that you get the new one then your contract start again. So you don't need to feel sad because the network help you to get your contract deal continues.
