I wouldn't want to lose my Sheffield Steel bread knife, I've had it around 20 years and got it included with a toaster.

It cuts most other things in addition to bread..

I think without my global veg chopper I might be a little lost, I love it, and don't just use if for veg :D (along with that goes the knife sharpener ;) )

Oh and my global bread knife-its my back up knife as I leave another one in the bread bin, but the only one to be able to get through a sourdough crust is the trusty global :D

An old potato peeler, that I bought in a hardware shop in dublin when in college (so about 15 years old) that I have tried to replace but none of them work as well! Its rusty but I still use it
We have a corkscrew, but barely use it (thank goodness for screw tops:beer:)

Am sure I couldn't live without a lot of the stuff I have, especially my kenwood chef & the food processor attachment :D

My stainless steel measuring cups and spoons. I convert any new recipes I try and really like to cups measurements and all our faves are in my head in cups. I wouldn't cook from scratch nearly as much if I had to get out the scales too often, especially when I'm working. Love my cups!

Potato peeler - fits my hand easily and makes short work of a crap job.

My silicon spatula - makes getting the last bit of mix out the bowl sooo much easier and therefore my baking more economical.

My veg and bread knives. Bread knife good for slicing meat too - again makes the sunday roast last for lunches instead of buying processed tat for sarnies so helps the budget stretch.

One which I could do without but wouldn't like to, is my tongs. I didn't have one until last year, except for a big one for the barbecue.

I agree, the knife sharpener is essential for globals.

My first thought was my Kenwood but figured it was a gadget (as well as many other things I considered, like my digital scales) so I could keep them ;)

After reading the other replies though I'd really miss my silicone spatula (so versatile) and my zester has went missing for the second time in a year (found it in DS1s bedroom last time (just why?)) so I think I'm going to have to replace that. The grater doesn't do the same job properly.

I love my M&S can opener and M&S small knife which I bought at a Xmas sale for just 25p! I'd be completely lost without this knife as I use it for everything - cutting, peeling, etc etc
If you feel my post has been useful, " merci" would not go amiss.

Electric whisk with dough hooks. Bought it for £12 when bread machine turned it's toes up and I couldn't afford a new one. Perfect bread every time, loaves twice the size with no daft holes in the bottom. It only takes 10 minutes to make the dough. I was buying shop bread for a while and since returning to HM, I'm saving £20 a month :-)
