What relevance is £6,000 when I was talking of being just below the £16,000 at £15,999 :think:0

luminated, the reason Oldernotwiser stated £6000 and it's relevance is that once you have £6000 you begin to lose benefit - I believe it's £1 for every £250. This happens between £6000 and £16000 - if you have £16,000 you do not qualify for any benefit. I believe that is correct.
Thanks TOBROK. I found ONW's post confusing.0 -
Good grief, nothing like slating anyone but those who agree wholeheartedly with you! :rotfl:
I didn't realise we had forum police - is that a new initiative from mse towers?0 -
Many on this board seem to think you should spend all your savings before you claim a penny off the state
I don't think people think that at all. People give advice to claim to your entitlement.
What I think people don't like is the tone of your posts. You seem pompous, secretive and feel somewho that the claim process is "beneath you". Plus you have a chip on your shoulder given the amount of comments about your savings.
D70How about no longer being masochistic?
How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?0 -

I see DMg & ONW wiser very quickly thanked you.
Is this the same person sitting in a room of PC's logged in by different user names and jumping back and forth to thank each other.
Only joking but doubt you guys would take this as a joke?
Your last paragraph is kettle calling the pot as far as I have read.0 -
Some people seem to think that £16000 is a lot of money. Look at the cost of everything. Its not a lot in this day and age and in my opinion far too low a figure at which to be witheld benefits.0

Yes very true & brave of you to say so as I expect you will get some that disgree very soon. Interesting that even Liam Byrne the Shadow Mister for Work & Pension said so in the House of Commons yesterday.0 -

To someone who feels the need to claim benefits, it is a great deal.
If I was to claim JSA, LHA, CTB etc, I would be entitled to around £230 per week (including all housing costs). £16,000 is equivalent to nearly seventy weeks worth of benefit money. You can hardly be in need if you can afford to pay your own way for such a long period.Gone ... or have I?0 -

Do you not believe in following the forum rules as set out by Martin in the sticky as quoted below: -
"Its about helping people get their entitlement! Not about benefits policy!
This board is here for help and support for those on or looking to claim benefits, not for judgement."

I don't comment very much..but is anyone else thinking 'wind up' or 'Andy'?
The 'stress' of having over 16k in savings and maybe having to fill out forms for free money must make you lose sleep at night.. *sigh*
dmg, ONW and D70 are entitled to their opinions, and if they don't want to pat you on the head and say 'there, there' then they are quite entitled to. You post on a public forum-deal with the 'public' replies.Ruaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x
If you can't stand behind our troops, please feel free to stand in front of them.
I will respect your opinions, even if I don't agree with them0
