Little boy is coming home from school at 3.30 saying he's hungry. He is eating his school lunch as i know his dinner lady
Our family meal is at 6pm when hubby gets home so we can all eat together. Don't want to change to 2 different meal times but can people give me ideas for a snack between these times.
Thanks0 -
In France it is the norm to have a snack at that time, its seen as a separate meal in itself, 'le gouter', and then for kids to have tea with the adults unless they are really little.
We have snack time when the kids get home, about 3.30. It doesnt have to be expensive, just toast or crumpets, a piece of fruit, or a small cake (especially if its homemade banana or fruit cake :P yum)
Sometimes the kids help prepare food in which case they pick at stuff as they are cooking - carrots, olives, breadsticks are good with soft cheese.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

my kids are always hungry when they get in from school. they have a glass of milk, or juice (in the winter we usually make a pot of tea) either a piece of fruit, some carrot sticks, or cake (they dont get a choice, i do it on a rota, or else we'd be on cake every afternoon).
we have tea about 5:30-6pm depending on where they are going that night. and then they have hot drink and a boiscuit before bed.
3 yr old never wants afternoon snack really, (unless its cake ::)) but the others have always been hungry coming in from school. i think its more use of energy.
hope this helps,

Hehe, I was wondering why "carrot sticks" sounded odd - just realised, isn't it supposed to be one or the other method to keep them under control, i.e. either the carrot or the stick approach? ::)
Humour me, having one of those days........I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe
