Thanks for that Ras. Will do immediately. Is there anybody at OFT I need to address the letter to?
  • Hi

James Waldron - see my previous post above
  • AND - DON'T TALK TO HFO on THE PHONE, unless you can record the call, ever, put everything in writing. They will tell you anything on the phone.

They tend to NOT go away which is why you must report this ASAP

It's best to report each breach HFO commits as entirely separate, new complaints. The more complaints the OFT gets about them, the more inclined they may be to revoke HFO's licence.
  • I have posted on the other HFO thread, but, as this one contains more recent posts I've decided to add my own two-pennorth.
To cut a long story short, these scumbags promised to take me to court in December 2007 for a "debt" which I had always denied liability for. I never heard a thing until late June this year when I received a new "reminder of assignation" which I ignored- the amount "owed" had increased by over £2k.
I had another letter, with a further increase in amount "owed" a few days later. I sent them the usual denials, via recorded delivery, telling them that any further contact from themselves or their agents would be construed as harassment and reported to the appropriate authorities, including the police. So they rang me. I refused to answer their security questions and told them that they would be reported to the police. That impressed them so much that they sent me a "72 Hour Notice". I must admit that these !!!!!!!s had me rattled until I Googled them on Thursday and read of some of the appalling things that they have done to vulnerable people. Enough's enough. They put me through eight months of harrassment in 2007 and, as I'm sure that a lot of you will agree, they occupy so much of your thoughts and time. My "debt" is statute barred, which makes it so much worse.
I have reported them to my local Trading Standards Office, my MP, and, just to really put the icing on the cake, the Serious Fraud Office. My next step is to try and interest a national newspaper in taking up the story. I want these evil lowlifes named, shamed and, if possible, imprisoned.

We have had long dealings with HFO services. Hubby had an old Citi Card debt that they picked up which was close to £800. He went to court they have a charge on the house I believe and we are now paying £15.00 per month to Turnbull Rutherford. Hubby had a stroke in January last year and he was paying the £15.00 into a bank every month. I had to take on the payments for everything and as he dealt with this it was not on my radar. HFO rang and I gave them a payment of £75 to bring it up to date. Then I got calls from Turnbull Rutherford and have now started a standing order with them for £15 each month. Looking at my online banking I have noticed that HFO crop up with a £15 standing Torder. They took the $75 and then they took £15 in June this year. I have spoken to Turnbull Rutherford and know she has got all the payments as coming off the debt but she said I should look at the HFO services with my bank. They are sending me a form to stop this payment as I don't need to pay twice but my bank says they can come in and take when they want as things stand. How can that be so. Let this be a warning to all check your bank statements to make sure HFO are not fleecing you in any way!
  • Hi guys new to the site, so here goes!!

HFO contacted me august this year, via telephone,i called them back not recognising the number,i now know this is not advisable thing to do, regarding a debt from 2002,debt now double original amount,
feeling very hassled by them i paid some money back!! does this make statute barred option obsolete now? can i refuse to pay outstanding back because i was pressured into payment or do they have me over a barrel? any help hugely appreciated.:(
  • Hi all. Update on my saga with HFO services. Its been a long tim esince I heard anything from them as you will see from my last post on here!!!.
Anyway, this morning I have received a letter from Turnbull, Rutherford stating that I now have 21 days to respond before they start legal proceedings. They have also attached a lovely letter detailing when my account was transferred to them. Apparently, as this is the first time that they have sent me a letter of assignation, the debt was sold on to HFO Cayman in october 2006, then passed on to HFO Ireland in 2008. They have also sent me anew default notice dated 3 November 2011 stating that I defaulted on the original loan to Welcome Finances on 1 May 2006, thereby looking as though my claim that the debt is statute barred look wrong. As a result I am now looking once again at all paperwork that I hold on this issue, as I know without a shadow of a doubt that I have never made a payment to Welcome or HFO in the last 5 years, or within the last god knows how long. Just confused now and really in need of some more advice.
    Thanks in advance

  • Hi Fermi. Thanks for the quick reply. Is there anywhere that I can download that letter from?
