3 mobile internet - nightmare

To be fair I have had a 3 mobile broadband contract for about 3 years now because I "upgraded" lol into a new contract its cheap as chips I get 15 gig allowance a month for £15, we have a BT wireless network at home so only keep the 3 contract on for a backup I do use it quite a bit though when out and about, I live very rurally in Wales and never had an issue with it, there was a time I even got rid of BT completely and only used 3 and even then with high use I always found it completely reliable and never had any problems at all. The only reason I had BT swirtched back on was a need for multiple connections at home which the 3 dongle could not cope with.
I have read many threads though about people having similar experinces to the OP it does seem a bit hit and miss but arent all the mobile broadband providers? I dont think poor reception and disconecction problems in certain areas is purely a 3 problem TBH. The only "reliable" (and I use that term loosely) internet connection is going to be a hard wired one such as BT or Virgin Media even then it can be hit and miss......................................."You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -
don't get 3 broadband i have used it frustratingly now for 3 months, in the last 20 mins i been online i have had trouble connecting, sending info and it resetting itself, red "no service" lights and so on.

I know what you mean with regards to 3!! I had no end of problems, and could NEVER use the Dongle at home, would not allow me any signal whatsoever!! I was only ever able to use it at work, if I took my laptop in!
What really hacked me off with 3 was, when the time came to try and get rid of their 18mth contract, they then claimed I had elected a 24mth contract on-line, something I wouldn't have done, and no persuation from me made any difference whatsoever, they kept me paying for another 6mths, and after the 24mths had elapsed, still found it hard to get shut of them, took another 3mths after that to say farewell!!
Your better off with someone else, 3 was a very expensive and miserable mistake on my part, and I certainly wouldn't go back. Good luck with your new provider.0 -
Perhaps the extending cable is faulty? Try another one.
Can second this. The speed dropped to about 1 Meg on ours for a while - I even thought about having the ADSL re-enabled as even that would have been quicker.
As a very last resort having checked everything else I swapped the USB cable for another and it went back to 2.9Mbps instantly and intermittent drop outs stopped.
So USB cables can and do fail.0 -

I'm new to buying preloaded SIMS for 3 network from ebay.
Trouble is, I'm having a connection issue today and I'm trying to work out whether the 3 months or the 3GB has run out - how can I tell?"Buy me, Lady", said the frock, "and I will make you into a BEAUTIFUL & WHOLE & COMPLETE human being"."Do not be silly", said the Man, "for a frock alone cannot do that"."True", said the Lady, "I will have the shoes and the bag as well".:rotfl:0 -
like a lot of things you need to do a bit of homework
go to sitefinder.org and find where the masts are near where you will use the network thats best for you
people just slag networks off when they are miles from a mast and have a poor signal
what do you expect? how do you think these things work?
thats why you get some people say X network is "rubbish" "crap" etc
others say its great
I am 100 yards from a 3 mast
so i have a 3 phone and a 3 internet dongle
it has been perfect i get 5 bars and 3-4meg
I used to be on vodafone and was 3/4mile from the mast
it was ok but never got better than 3 bars0 -

We're in-between properties at the moment, key to the new place next week :-) and currently using a '3' mobile dongle, and its great in my area (Durham) just done a speedtest and got 2.30mb download speed on it. Faster than some ADSL connections I believe.0
