to install testdisk just open the terminal and type "sudo apt-get install testdisk" without quotes
once installed type "sudo testdisk" and it should load, As long as you are reasonably it literate you should be okay.
Its pretty simple to use to be honest and you should be able to recover all the files to a usb stick or something.
I have saved data for quite a few people using it.0 -
Does this work the same as recuva? As I have deleted files on my D drive without checking to see if I had already backed them up.
Was hoping that might of given me enough space be able to run the windows recovery disk - but no such luck.
Or will this just sort out the partition problem
Will have a go tomorrow morning - as son seems to be constantly on the computer at the moment - typical kids lol
p.s.
If not is there another programme similar to recuva that works on Ubuntu?
ThanksTypically confused and asking for advice0 -

Backed up half of the files, deleted some as I said on my previous post - but think they were already on memory stick.
I have found a Product key for windows XP on the base of the computer - will this be the license key do you think?Typically confused and asking for advice0 -

I cant seem to find anything else - so assume this is the license key
Could you please repost your last instructions for me to post and copy into the terminal.
Thanks in anticipationTypically confused and asking for advice0 -
Hi, If you were referring to my last post then its not a command you can type.
Its just an error because the window isn't big enough to fit 24 lines of text, If you make the window bigger then it will work, Try maximizing the terminal window or just stretch it with the mouse.
If you were not referring to my post above then i apologize.0 -
