Its all part of the system to screw tenants in favour of landlords. It sucks I agree. You have every reason to be annoyed, and you could just mention to everyone who looks round your flat whilst you are there what the landlord has done to you and they wont take the flat. Revenge is sweet!I am not a financial expert, and the post above is merely my opinion.:j0 -

I don't think there IS a technicality. Both LL and T must give notice to coincide with the end of a rental period. I presume you wouldn't accuse the T of relying on an immoral "technicality" if he were to expect the LLs notice to end in the same tried and tested way?0 -

a months notice is a months notice. The law is ridiculous, and complicated only to diddle the tenants out of money - who are obviously less likely to know the laws than landlords who make all/part of their living out of the rental business.
1 months notice is the same as 1 months notice, whenever it was given in relation to rent payments. It doesnt effect the LL at all, he has a month to find new tenants. He is basically just exploiting a technicality to get extra money out of a tenant. disgustingI am not a financial expert, and the post above is merely my opinion.:j0 -

I would argue dignity is more important than money. I would have the dignity to fore-warn other tenants of a money grabbing landlord because I couldnt live with myself if I said everything was brilliant and a tenant got locked into a deal with such an individual. Just like I wouldnt sell a car under false pretences, I wouldnt grease the wheels of a rental agreement under false pretences to meet my own objectives.
Some of us still have our morals and dignity in tact.
I really feel sorry for charleene about this situation.I am not a financial expert, and the post above is merely my opinion.:j0
