I have 1 account with Nationwide + 1 with Barclays. I use the Nationwide card reader to log in on both sets of accounts. The Barclays reader sits unused in a draw.
And another thing is that you can get a code before you go out and keep it with you to use later. They are not time-sensitive but sequence-sensitive.0 -
I hope we can opt out of this as it's unnecessary for people who don't respond to phishing emails and are very careful with their logon credentials.
no opt out, direct from hsbc's website...
''This is such an important upgrade that everyone must use it. It's very easy to use, but feel free to call us and opt out of online banking if you prefer not to use it.''
Its either use it or dont bank online. Looks like we'll be ringing india more often.0 -

I'd rather use a card reader over this. At least I then only need to carry one device around with me for all the banks I use. Plus I've got enough of them now to keep one in my bag, one at home and one at university.
I'll be seeing how I get on with this, but have visions of my Halifax Reward account becoming my main account.0 -

No surprise why most of the phishing e-mails I have receive are for Halifax, given that their online banking is one of the last that doesn't require two-factor authentication.
I reckon its only a matter of time before halifax join the ranks of card readers, arent lloyds using them already, and hasnt the recent update just put them on the same playing field on terms of banking systems?0 -

you are correct, Halifax issued cards are already provisioned with the DPA applet that performs the cardreader functions, all they need to do is dole out readers and enable it on their website.0 -

What happened to the two-factor authentication that Lloyds trialled over 5 years ago? It looked like SecurID, which is quite expensive. What do they use now?
business users have a card reader and soon to be rolled out onto personal0 -
Looks like I'll be opening another account... waiting until hsbc issue the cards to me and the wife (to ensure it costs then as much as possible) and then closing the account I've had since I was 18 and you needed a sponsor to open one.0
