Why didn't you take it to a Police station? They would check details in the purse, contact Tesco, or anybody else, keep it safe - and pass on your details for any thank-you.
I initially did but the police support worker suggested to go to Tesco (or to one of the other places which had a card in the wallet) as she said the lady was 'more likely to go to one of these places to try and collect it.'
Having failed at Tesco I returned to the police station to offload it.0 -
We always use to find lost things when I worked at the cinema. Mostly mobile phones, we usually kept it at the gate for 30 minutes or so, to see if anyone comes back for it. Then it goes in the managers office if not. I use to hand bank card/purses to managers, don't know what they did with them if no one came back for them though.
I remember someone found a few grand in cash in the cinema! Someone had just sold his motorbike. The guy came in the next day and gave £20 to the person who found it.0 -

We always find credit cards, mobiles, etc.
With credit cards, we try and find the person online first. We contacted one lady and she didn't live in Huddersfield (where we found it) and was so grateful that we phoned as she had no idea that she had lost it.
We would usually drop it in to the bank, or on some cases we would destroy it - only done that twice because I was no where near a bank and was so scared that if someone saw me with it, they'd think I had stolen it or something lol
With mobiles, we always go through the phone book and find 'Home' or 'Ice' (In Case of Emergency) and phone it. We've found a couple of iPhones too, and most people would keep it, but I treat others how I want to be treated, and I hope if I lost something, I'd get it back.........Hopefully.

In Tenby last year OH managed to find no less than TWO mobiles in 15 minutes. The first was a local businessman who'd left it on the roof of his van, he literally caught it as it flew off lol The second a man who had sat down on a bench and just left his phone. Both were reunited with their mobiles within half an hour0

I lost my purse about a year ago. I searched high and low for it for about 2 weeks and was gutted I couldn't find it as it had all my cards, driving license and about £50 cash in it. I cancelled all my cards and was just about to send off the form with £20 to pay for a new driving license when the doorbell rang. It was a young lad from pets at home. He was cleaning and found it under a display! I was so chuffed
I gave him £20 as he had driven a good 10 miles to return it to me (my address was on my license) and he saved me the cost of a new license and purse.

Why is anyone expecting customer service from Tesco? There's no immediate profit in it for them. My local branch just throws clubcards away and tells you to phone Dundee for a replacement.
Whilst, many others will provide a temporary card to use while waiting for the replacement card (can take two to three weeks), or ring CC while the customer is there.I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -
