Virgin Media 10Meg £25.25 for exising customers. Fair?

Hi, I don't know if anyone else has had any joy with this problem. I am currently on the Virgin Media L Broadband connection without a Virgin Media phone line. This costs £25.25. I was looking on their website and it says the cost of this is £21.00. I have emailed them and they say basically that the costs on their website are promotional rates. The problem I see is that it does not say anywhere about the £21 being a special deal and the charge I am paying does not appear to be listed on their website at all. I hate the fact that to me I appear to paying £4.25 a month for the same service. Can anyone suggest anything.

Call them and tell them you wish to leave.. Anybody paying full price with VM are fools - aim for 1/2 price.. seriously.0

I think £25.50 is the standard price but they apply a discount. I know the standard price for 20Mbps was £37 but with BB+phone there was a £17 discount.
If you aren't happy your only real option is to call them and take the "I'm thinking of leaving" option - that take you to retentions and they are the only ones with the ability to apply decent discounts.
FWIW my 50Mbps costs £25 with the phone after some discount or other. (Total = £37.99)0 -
Sounds like you are being charged for paper billing. Otherwise it would be £20.25.
I also have BB only from Virgin out of contract (the way I like it). Every 4 months or so I ring up to give my 30 days notice ('I can't afford it') and they usually give me a £30 bill credit.
I reckon I pay about £12.50 a month on average for the same service as you (after all the bill credits).0 -

I don't receive any paper billing so I don't think I could be charged for paper billing0 -

I would suggest phoning and giving your 30 days notice (remember, you can cancel this notice anytime, so no need to worry).......when they start trying to persuade you to stay, explain that you can't afford it, etc and that others seem to get the same service for £20.25. DO NOT agree to any new contract, wait to see if they offer a bill credit (bribe) to keep you and reduce your monthly rate. If they don't just go ahead and give your notice....they'll soon be back on the phone to you with some kind of bribe or whatever.

£25 for a 10Mbit connection
We had a "cold" call from VM a couple of weeks ago offering 100Mbit for £20 for 6 months, then it rises to £35 per month for the remaining 6 months of the contract.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -
£25 seemed quite reasonable, but then I reread the post, £25 without a phone, clucking bell!
Hopefully OP is not paying BT for a phone line as well. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

The paper billing option doesn't come to the difference but they charge a stonking £5 a month if you don't pay by DD I think. Could that be it?
From other posts (possibly on other boards) I don't think they are over bothered about retaining 10Mbps BB only customers so there is unlikely to be a very generous discount anyway imo (but the recurring £30 credit story suggests I'm wrong).0
