    They are adorable though :)

Wait till they do the kitty racetrack around the bed and under it at 4am... it's like Grand Prix but cuter and fluffier! And the having to lie there desperately trying not to wiggle your toe at all because you'll get a tiny pair of jaws (and flipping sharp teeth) immediately clamped around it!

I also have a little black devil who is being spayed as we speak. She climbs the curtains, plays with her ball all over the set top box and behind the tv, she has a scratching post which she uses but her claws have ruined our new leather dining chairs and our leather sofa. But I love her to bits. She has now taken to scratching at my door at 6am for breakfast which I ignore until I want to get up. I do not want to be a slave to her. Although she woke my 4 year old on at Sat at 5am and she got up to feed her, which I have had to put a stop too :)

    Good luck

My little monster bit straight through my phone cable. Therefore no internet... until I saw the evidence I was cursing and swearing about how much a call to Sky support would be on my mobile....
  • Reading these comments has made me feel a whole lot better!!!

Friends of mine used a massive (open top) cardboard box as a 'container' when their kittens were little, and used to put them in there for naps or 'time out'. We've often said we could really use a big kitten playpen! Just for the odd ten minutes, when you don't want them under your feet (while hoovering, for instance).

I asked at Pets at Home about Feliway but they wouldn't sell me any (it's in a locked cabinet). I wonder if kittens don't respond to it before a certain age? Anyway, I might ask again - it would be useful to have.

Mollymeep, I am hoping that spaying will have a calming effect, although I've heard lots of people say it doesn't! Maybe it's just a part of getting older (wiser?!) too.

Our two go into kitten frenzy several times a day, and chase each other like little lightening flashes. Anyone in the way gets to feel the claws! Up and down the sofa/curtains etc :-/. I popped home at lunchtime today, to feed and pet them, and they were in full flight mode - I could see one of them at the top of the curtains as I was driving away and had no time to go back and peel her off!!! When I came home (3 hours later) the cushions were on the floor, the throw was in a heap, and no doubt the leather sofa has further damage (I daren't look!). Monday is the only day I have to leave them for any length of time but I'm anxious all day!

Does anyone know if/when they will be attracted to catnip? I sprayed their 'cat gym' with it today in an attempt to attract them to it while I was gone, but I don't think it had any affect at all....

    Thanks again, everyone!

Catnip response is down to genetics I believe - some cats go for it like drooling idiots, some don't get interested at all. Mine's totally disinterested in it.

Same as Daisy & Orbit..Catnip does absolutly nowt for them, unlike bleach which has them rolling around in front of the loo door in raptures of ecstacy if I use it,which I don't when I seen the effect it has on them.

we have a 15 week old kitten and he's nuts, him and our 3 year old cat have these crazy play fights which result in older cat going daft and chasing his tail!

We have mum and 3 kittens (11 mos now). All quite bonkers - Mum likes to sit in the basins in the bathrooms, will throw anything left on a surface onto the floor and try and get in the shower with you! She also lies on the heated bathroom floor and if you need to move her to "use the facilities" you are likely to get bitten!

Kittens walk over the keyboard whilst you are trying to use it, run over the sofas, over the bed from early hours and woe betide you if you lock them out the bedroom!

Oh and they also like to bring stuff in through the cat flap - piece of 4 x 2 " wood, mice, bits of birds, childrens hair scrunchies (!), window foam and best of all - a new mousetrap!

    Yours are just being normal!

Not all cats react to catnip - some go mad for it; some don't. It's a bit like [insert your favourite alcohol here!] and people.

ETA. Oops sorry, Just read posts above saying same thing.
  • This sounds like my house too. My 16 week old girl kittens are lunatics. I spend my whole day like this:

"No, get off. Get down. No, No. Get off there. Get out of that. What are you doing?!"

    Repeat ad infinitum....

They sound like a herd of wildebeest. One of them likes to lick your nose obsessively and the other day I just wanted 5 minutes of peace and quiet so I put them in the cupboard under the stairs (they actually like it in there so a win/win situation)

    I do love them though!
