Two kittens running the house! Help!

Oooh, our vet seemed quite adament they couldn't be spayed before 5-6 months. They are quite petite (friend's cats look HUGE to me now) and I suspect they will stay on the small side, like the mother cat... but i will ask about the possibility of doing the op sooner next time we visit the vets.
They know for sure that they shouldn't be climbing the curtains etc. One of them climbs down the moment I move towards her, while the other is a little more persistent and only comes down when she's about to be peeled off
. The cat behaviour spray works, for a short while, and i find it useful for very specific areas, such as the unit that houses the set top box (they like to squeeze into the tight space). I tend to spray a little in that area at night before bed - at least it gives me the illusion of some control! Haha!
pigpen - please don't tell me that 12 year old cats can still run up curtains. Please!!!0 -
This made me chuckle as your black kitten even looks like ours! Sounds exactly like her as well, she is full of mischief and fun. Keeps us busy!0

Double sided sticky tape and a plant water sprayer helped us to control our two. They don't like the feeling of the sticky tape, so we put it down behind the TV and they tried it once or twice but stopped quickly. The water sprayer was a great threat, it got to the point where you just had to pick it up and they stopped whatever they were doing. They're 2.5 now and have both calmed down. Sending them out to run around all day certainly helps!0

Thanks... the sticky tape is the only thing I know that we haven't tried, but i've been planning to run some along the kitchen work tops. But it would be good for other places too. And they wouldn't associate it with me or anyone else (I use a water spray from time to time but it makes me feel very mean, and I'm worried they'll get the huff with me. Yes, I have been assimilated. I am their slave!).
I'll pick some up the next chance I get

We have a 2 1/2 year old female who is no trouble, but she used to chew through lots of cables when she was young, in particular my sons Xbox head phone cables and mobile phone charger cables, much to my annoyance.
She grew out of it by about 9 months
Oh yes forgot the xmas tree, we didnt put one up this year as last year she kept wrecking it0 -
Every year I hope mine will leave the poor tree alone.. every year.. up they dash.. but they tip it over now.
12 y/o cats can't run up the curtains.. they pull them down.. and the track... and a few times, half the plaster as well!!! I think one of them is senile! He has cat Altzeimers..

Hmm, that's what I'm thinkng. They play well, but the play is rough and fast and very boistrous!
As for Christmas trees... I'm getting the impression they might be a thing of Christmas past?!0 -
We had a large dog crate for the 2 youngest cats (we have 6) that helped.. they would go in for sleeps and if they were really on oneLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

We had exactly the same with our Lily, didn't have a full nights sleep for her whole first year, she was kept inside as we lived in a city centre flat so we had to make sure we kept her stimulated 24/7, and if she got bored she would definitely let us know it!! Thankfully we moved to the suburbs and she settled in completely, she goes outside but doesn't stray very far... still think she prefers her home comforts! Our new flat has plenty of space for her to have her scatty moments.
Spaying definitely calmed her down, although it might of been a combination of that and the more interesting surroundings! We have a routine now and she mostly lets us sleep the full night. It's definitely just an age thing!trying to become a moneysaving student0
