I wouldn't refund since you clearly stated leather look in auction description

they could attempt a paypal chargeback but i believe there is now a $25 dollar charge to buyer if funds are recovered so they would not get anything back

ps - looks like your buyer has a leather fetish

no i wouldnt refund as u stated they are leather look - if u were feeling generous u could offer to refund them if they returned them at their own expense and then do a mutual to get ur fvf back

They can do a chargeback with Paypal, especially as you didn't send the item with tracking (standard rate on the listing)

They could just say they haven't received them and get their money back that way, that's why you really should send everything with tracking if the buyer is paying with Paypal.

I'm not sure why people keep mentioning paypal charges... I've yet to hear from anyone who has been hit by one, although I agree pp's wording is very misleading.

Yes, either recorded or special delivery. If someone does a chargeback on you, you need to provide Paypal with proof of it being delivered, not just sent and you can only do this by providing them with a tracking number (a post office receipt won't do)

  • But surely on this occasion the seller would be ok as she has an email from buyer stating the problem - would that not be proof enough that the item had been received?! :)

I must have read it the same way as the buyer. I didn't notice the word look in the wording and i read it a couple of times. Quite spooky actually that I couldn't see the word look.

anyway it says leather in listing (no mention of look) I think it would be pollitic to offer a refund in this case?

It doesn't say "look" in the title which is a bit misleading- I'd cut your losses before the leather freaks kick up a fuss- its not going to bleed you dry at that selling price- not worth the grief or being slated on feedback really
