You can buy mushroom ketchup from independent delis. A company called Hider Foods in Hull sell it to small shops.
Mushroom ketchup is simply a savoury seasoning, you could substitute Worcester Sauce. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -

Watched the the tatties programme last night. Hmm, good for those not used to anything other than bakers, reds and whites.
Then went to the farmer's market this morning and a stall-holder was selling about a dozen varieties including Shetland Black, one of the Sarpos, Kerr's Pink, Yeltholm Gypsy, Pink Fir Apple, Aura and Fortyfold. The last one is interesting because the flavour is really strong compared with modern varieties.
So they are out there is you look.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

I had to laugh at one bit; "Golden Noble is very rare, there are only two trees at Brogdale". Well I think they grow two trees of each variety at Brogdale?
It is a very popular early cooker with people from the local fruit group. May get some fruit myself this year as it is too late to move the tree I grafted a couple of years ago. I intended to give it away this spring.
I enjoyed the recipes, although the vast amounts of butter is an issue for me.
I do wish people were more demanding of supermarkets.
The other year the local chair of the fruit group organised a tasting of several very local varieties for Apple Day. Every single one of them was as good as or better than the apples I occasionally buy in the supermarket, or buy in the market. And each one was quite distinctive.
Please Mr Supermarkets, can we have Beauty of Bath, followed by Discovery, Worcester Pearmain, then the host of local early apples, then Chiver's Delight, Spartan (properly ripe), Rosemary Russet and Winston? Please, pretty please. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
